<br />AWARD BIDS - JANITORIAL SERVICES, INCLUDING PEST AND RODENT
<br />CONTROL AT POLICE DEPARTMENT AND TWO (2) POLICE SUBSTATIONS
<br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Charles T. Hurley,
<br />recommended that the Board award the bid of Maintenance Systems
<br />Corporation, P.O. Box 6125, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of
<br />$16,680.00, to provide cleaning services at the Police Department
<br />facilities for calendar year 1987.
<br />Additionally, Chief Hurley recommended that the bid of Franklin
<br />Pest Control, 614 West Calvert Street, South Bend, Indiana, in
<br />the amount of $648.00, be accepted to provide pest control at the
<br />Police Department facilities for calendar year 1987. Upon a
<br />motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried,
<br />the above recommendations were accepted, the bids awarded and the
<br />matter referred to the City Attorney's office for the drafting of
<br />the appropriate contracts.

<br />ATTACHMENTS FOR THE SOUTH BEND STREET DEPARTMENT
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Bill Penn,
<br />Director, Division of
<br />Transportation, recommended that the Board award the bid of
<br />Boschung Company, Inc., 530 Armory Drive, South Holland,
<br />Illinois, in the amount of $82,800.00 for the above referred to
<br />equipment as follows:

<br />Mr. Penn advised that the bid submitted by Best Equipment
<br />Company, Inc. did not meet specifications as it did not include a
<br />snow blower or high pressure washing and flushing system.
<br />Further, the bid submitted by Deeds Equipment Company, Inc. did
<br />not meet specifications in that they do not have a vacuum type
<br />sweeper capable of dumping in a small truck or dumpster and most
<br />attachments are tow behind type that will extend the unit beyond
<br />the maximum length of one hundred forty (140) inches.
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that bids for the above referred to
<br />equipment were opened by the Board on November 10, 1186 and that
<br />the Street Department and the Department of Redevelopment are the
<br />combined funding source for the purchase of this equipment. Upon
<br />a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and
<br />carried, the recommendation was accepted and the bid awarded.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - ONE (1) OR
<br />MORE STREET FLUSHERS AND SINGLE AXLE CAB AND CHASSIS FOR THE
<br />SOUTH BEND STREET DEPARTMENT
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Bill Penn, Director, Division of
<br />Transportation, requested that the Board advertise for the
<br />receipt of bids for the above referred to equipment. Upon a
<br />motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried,
<br />the above request was approved.
