�( 4' <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 17, 1986 <br />been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks <br />had been run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders <br />notified. Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. <br />Leszczynski and carried, the above request was approved and a <br />date of July 1, 1986 was established for the receiving and <br />opening of sealed bids. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - ONE (1) <br />VAN MOUNTED AERIAL LIFT <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. John E. Leszczynski, Director, <br />Public Works, requested that the Board advertise for the receipt <br />of bids for one (1) van mounted aerial lift to be used by the <br />Traffic and Lighting Department for traffic signal repairs. Upon <br />a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and <br />carried, the request was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ROLLERSKATE THIRTY (30) MILES THROUGHOUT SOUTH <br />BEND TO BENEFIT LEUKEMIA VICTIM ("SKATE FOR KATHY") - JUNE 21, <br />1986 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Ms. Gretchen Priest, 513 Corby, <br />South Bend, Indiana, and Ms. Cindy Simeri have requested <br />permission to rollerskate thirty (30) miles throughout South Bend <br />on June 21, 1986, to raise funds to benefit their former <br />classmate who has leukemia. Mr. Leszczynski further advised that <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department <br />Traffic Division have reviewed this request and the route <br />submitted, and recommend approval of the event. It was noted <br />that the two (2) skaters will utilize the streets and will obey <br />all traffic signals. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the <br />recommendation was accepted and the request approved. <br />APPROVE BLOCK PARTY REQUESTS <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard <br />and carried, the following Block Party requests which have been <br />reviewed by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />Department Traffic Division and recommended for approval were <br />approved: <br />PETITIONER: R. L. Farrell, Jr. <br />ADDRESS: 1842 Wilbur Street <br />STREET TO BE CLOSED: 1800 block of Wilbur Street between <br />Portage and Marquette <br />DATE: July 4, 1986 <br />TIME: 1:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. <br />PETITIONER: Sue Baytos <br />ADDRESS: 1330 East South Street <br />STREET TO BE CLOSED: East South Street from Sunnyside to <br />the Island at Longfellow <br />DATE: June 28, 1986 <br />TIME: 4:00 p.m. - 12:00 midnight <br />PETITIONER: Janice McCurdie <br />ADDRESS: 1307 East Altgeld Street <br />STREET TO BE CLOSED: East Altgeld Street between Leer <br />and Clyde Streets <br />DATE: July 4, 1986 <br />TIME: 2:00 p.m. - 12:00 midnight <br />It was noted that the Petitioners will be instructed that a ten <br />(10) foot clear and unobstructed lane at either curb or down the <br />center of the street must be maintained for emergency purposes. <br />7 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
