REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 25, 1986 <br />opportunity to bid new vehicles if they are unable to provide <br />one -owner daily rental vehicles. Additionally, the engine size <br />has been changed to include four (4) cylinder vehicles, the <br />warranty requirements have been changed to apply to new vehicles <br />only, and the trade-in option has been eliminated. <br />In response to the Board's inquiry of February 18, 1986, <br />regarding the amount of funds allocated for the purchase of these <br />vehicles, Chief Hurley advised that $58,240.00 was requested and <br />appropriated for the purchase of these vehicles That figure was <br />estimated as the cost of eight used -rental vehicles with the <br />estimated cost per used unit being $7,280.00. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard <br />and carried, the request to readvertise was approved. <br />REQUEST OF MEMORIAL HOSPITAL TO PLACE EIGHT (8) PERMANENT SIGNS <br />IN THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Carl Ellison, Assistant <br />Vice -President, Memorial Hospital, 615 North Michigan Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana, advised that the hospital requests approval <br />to place certain signs within the public right-of-way. He <br />advised that the hospital will again open its $17 million dollar <br />PACE Pavilion this summer. This addition, built over a portion <br />of vacated North Main Street will house Memorial's new <br />Emergency/Traum Center and other services. Inasmuch as this <br />project altered hospital campus traffic circulation patterns, <br />requested permanent sign placements are needed to provide the <br />public necessary direction to the hospital's relocated Emergency <br />Center. Permission to place permanent signage at the following <br />locations is requested: <br />1. N.W. CORNER OF NAVARRE/MICHIGAN <br />Memorial wishes to replace the existing permanent <br />illuminated sign with a new permanent illuminated sign <br />measuring 6'7" wide x 15'6" high. <br />2. S.W. CORNER OF BARTLETT/MICHIGAN <br />Memorial wishes to replace the existing permanent <br />illuminated sign with a new illuminated sign measuring <br />4' wide x 15'6" high. <br />3. NORTH SIDE OF NAVARRE STREET AT INTERSECTION OF NORTH <br />MAIN <br />Memorial wishes to place a new illuminated sign <br />measuring 4' wide x 12'2" high. <br />New reflective signs generally measuring 5' wide x 216" long and <br />mounted to stand 6" high at the top of the sign, will be placed <br />at the following locations: <br />4. N.E. CORNER OF NAVARRE/LAFAYETTE <br />5. S.E. CORNER OF BARTLETT/LAFAYETTE <br />6. S.E. CORNER OF BARTLETT/LAFAYETTE (FACING NORTH) <br />7. NORTH SIDE OF NAVARRE EAST OF LAFAYETTE <br />8. EAST SIDE OF MAIN NORTH OF BARTLETT <br />Existing temporary signs will be removed from the .following <br />locations: <br />a. SOUTH SIDE OF NAVARRE EAST OF MICHIGAN <br />b. S.W. CORNER OF NAVARRE/MICHIGAN <br />
