t-- <br />6 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 25, 1986 <br />Begin at Matthys Little League Ball Park; east on Meadow Lane <br />to Edison; north on Edison and Villageway to Washington; east <br />on Washington to Gladstone, north on Gladstone to Linden; <br />west on Linden to Lombardy Drive; south on Lombardy Drive to <br />Ford Street; west on Ford to Sample; east on Sample to <br />Evergreen; south on Evergreen to Ball Park. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review <br />and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF STUDEBAKER NATIONAL MUSEUM FOR: <br />- TRAFFIC CONTROL AND CROWD ASSISTANCE FOR 1ST ANNUAL STUDEBAKER <br />FESTIVAL; AND <br />PERMISSION TO CONDUCT PARADE - JUNE 7, 1986 - REFERRED <br />Ms. Mikki Dobski, Director, Office of Community Affairs, advised <br />the Board that the Studebaker National Museum will be hosting the <br />1st Annual Studebaker Festival from June 6-8, 1986 at the <br />Studebaker Museum, Century Center, South Bend School Corporation <br />Administration Building and Tippecanoe Place. <br />She further advised that various activities scheduled include: <br />films, employee reunion, car display, auction, literature meet, <br />concourse (special outdoor car display), banquet, fifties dance, <br />swap meet, art display, tours and a lawn party. These activities <br />will be held on or at the sites mentioned above and arrangements <br />have been made in accordance with their policies. <br />However, in addition to the above referred to activities, the <br />Studebaker National Museum would like to request permission to <br />hold a parade on Saturday, June 7, 1986 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. <br />The proposed parade route is as follows: <br />Begin at Studebaker Museum (corner of Lafayette Boulevard and <br />South Street), proceed north on Lafayette to Jefferson <br />Boulevard, left on Jefferson Boulevard, across St. Joseph <br />Street (US33) to the Century Center Parking Lot. <br />The parade will include approximately one hundred fifty (150) <br />cars which may be lined up two (2) abreast, a few Studebaker <br />trucks and wagons and possibly three (3) marching bands. <br />Additionally, some general traffic control and crowd control will <br />be needed throughout the weekend at -Century Center, the Jefferson <br />Parking Garage, and the intersection of Jefferson and St. Joseph <br />Street. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for <br />review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO READVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS FOR <br />APPROXIMATELY EIGHT (8) NEW OR USED VEHICLES FOR THE 1986 SOUTH <br />BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT DETECTIVE BUREAU FLEET <br />It was noted that on February 18, 1986, since no bids were <br />received for the above referred to vehicles after two (2) <br />separate advertisements, the Board of Public Works authorized the <br />Police Department to negotiate with area dealers for the purchase <br />of these vehicles. <br />In a letter to the Board, however, Police Chief Charles T. Hurley <br />advised that the Police Department would like to readvertise for <br />the purchase of these vehicles as the original specifications <br />have been changed and clarified to provide vendors with the <br />1 <br />1 <br />
