1 Fj REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 24 1987 ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 35-1987 - FIXING RATES FOR MUNICIPAL OFF-STREET PARKING FACILITIES Mr. Vance advised that Resolution No. 35-1987 submitted to the Board contains several changes from the previous Resolution regarding this matter. Mr. Vance stated that Resolution No. 35-1987 equalizes hourly rates in both garages, as currently there is a ten (10) cent difference, equalizes the month -to -month single auto charge in the two (2) garages with both garages now being $35.00 per month, increases groups rates and eliminates the one hundred (100) or more category. Additionally, the Resolution provides for the City to be able to enter into long-term contracts with individuals. In response to questions from the new media, Mr. Vance advised that the Colfax Parking Garage currently serves four hundred seventy-five (475) individuals in the four hundred eight (408) spaces available and the St. Joseph St. Garage serves four hundred thirty (430) individuals in the four hundred eight (408) spaces available. He also advised that approximately fifty (50) City employees occupy spaces in the parking garages and that the rates of privately owned parking garages are comparable to the City's rates. He further advised that it is anticipated that the increased rates will bring in an additional sixteen hundred ($1,600.00) to two thousand ($2,000.00) dollars in revenue. There being no further questions by the news media or members of the Board, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the following Resolution No. 35-1987 was adopted: RESOLUTION NO. 35-1987 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA WHEREAS, I.C. 36-9-11-7 authorizes the Board of Public Works to fix rates for municipal off-street parking facilities, subject to approval of the Common Council; and WHEREAS, increasing maintenance and operating costs make it necessary to increase existing parking rates. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend that the following monthly parking rates be established for the Municipal Services Facility flat lot, the Colfax Street Parking Garage and the Jefferson Street Parking Garage: SECTION I. The following monthly rates shall be charged for individual vehicles parked at the Municipal Services Facility parking lot: (a) Municipal Services Facility, 700 block of West Sample Rate $16.00 per mo. SECTION II. The following monthly rates shall be charged for vehicles parked at City operated parking garages: Rate (a) Per vehicle, on a month -to -month basis $35.00 per mo. (b) Per vehicle, on a three-year contract $38.00 per mo.
