REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 20, 1987 <br />Mr. Leszczynski clarified that this service is not mandatory and <br />is not supported by the City. <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. <br />Vance and carried, the request as submitted by The Curb <br />Connection to paint street addresses on curbs was approved <br />subject to the above requirements. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CLOSE MANITOU PLACE FROM PARK AVENUE TO FOREST <br />FOR NEIGHBORHOOD HALLOWEEN PARTY - OCTOBER 24, 1987 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq, <br />and carried, the above referred to request, submitted to the <br />Board on October 13; 1987 was approved. <br />REQUEST OF TRANSPO TO INSTALL SHELTERS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS <br />THROUGHOUT THE CITY - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Art Barnes, Assistant General <br />Manager, South Bend Public Transportation Corporation, 901 East <br />Northside Boule-ard, South Bend, Indiana, advised that it is <br />TRANSPO's intention to begin installing shelters at various <br />locations around South Bend. The first shall be placed at the <br />bus stop at the Karl King Apartments. Additional locations shall <br />be determined at a later date. TRANSPO shall maintain the <br />shelters and provide a concrete foundation for anchorage. Mr. <br />Barnes asked that he be advised of any arrangements TRANSPO needs <br />to make to secure placement as well as any restrictions <br />pertaining to shelter placements. <br />In response to a question from the news media regarding the <br />number of shelters to be installed and their locations, Mr. <br />Leszczynski advised that the letter submitted to the Board does <br />not indicate either the number of shelters to be installed or <br />their locations and that that information will be sought through <br />the review process. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the above request was referred to the appropriate City <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - JANITORIAL <br />SERVICES, PEST AND RODENT CONTROL - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Charles T. Hurley <br />requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for <br />janitorial services and pest and rodent control for the Police <br />Department at the main station at 701 West Sample Street, the <br />South Sector at 1716 South Michigan Street, the West Sector at <br />220 North Olive Street and the East Sector at 126 North Niles <br />Avenue. Mr. Vance made a motion that the advertisement for the <br />receipt of bids for this service be approved. Mrs. DeClercq <br />seconded the motion and it carried. <br />APPROVE AND/OR RELEASE CONTRACTORS AND EXCAVATION BONDS <br />Mr. Melvin Humphrey, Engineering Department, recommended that the <br />Contractor's Bond for Stacey's Handi Service be approved <br />retroactive to October 13, 1987 and that the Excavation Bond for <br />Eagle Excavation, Inc. be released effective October 20, 1987. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the above Contractor's Bond was approved and the <br />above referenced Excavation Bond was released. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the following three (3) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />
