Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mrs. <br />DeClercq and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the <br />quotation awarded. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 1611 AND 1613 SOUTH <br />FELLOWS STREET - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Herbert and Rebecca Swatwood, 1607 <br />South Fellows Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that they are <br />presently purchasing the property at 1607 and 1609 South Fellows <br />Street. They are, therefore, interested in purchasing the <br />adjacent City -owned property at 1611 and 1613 South Fellows <br />Street. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. <br />DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate <br />City departments and bureaus for a determination whether or not <br />the City need retain these lots for any reason. <br />REQUEST OF ST. JOSEPH'S MEDICAL CENTER TO CONDUCT 7TH ANNUAL <br />SPORTSMED 10K ROAD RACE, 1 MILE FUN RUN AND 4K WALK - OCTOBER 4, <br />1987 - REFERRED <br />Mr. Ron Craker and Mr. Carter Wolf, Co -Race Directors, and Mr. <br />Mark J. Neff, Vice -President, Saint Joseph's Medical Center, 811 <br />East Madison Street, P.O. Box 1935, South Bend, Indiana, on <br />behalf of Pro Health of Saint Joseph's Medical Center, requested <br />permission to conduct the 7th Annual Sportsmed 10K Road Race, 1 <br />Mile Fun Run and 4K Walk on Sunday, October 4, 1987. <br />As in the past, both the 10K and 1 Mile Fun Run are scheduled to <br />begin at 2:00 p.m. and 2:05 p.m. respectively. The race course <br />which has been approved the last four (4) years is again the <br />course chosen for this year's event. <br />Also, a 4K (2.5 mile) Walk event is being planned. The East Race <br />walk ways and Howard Park footbridge is the proposed course for <br />this event. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the above request was referred to the appropriate City <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF WILLIAM PENN ASSOCIATION TO CLOSE ALLEYS FOR ANNUAL <br />PICNIC - AUGUST 22, 1987 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Frank J. Wukovits, Sr., President, <br />Branch #132, William Penn Association, 1024 West Indiana Avenue, <br />South Bend, Indiana, requested that the alleys surrounding the <br />lodge be closed for the annual picnic, beginning at 12:00 noon on <br />Saturday, August 22, 1987. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF <br />ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq, Director, Department of Code <br />Enforcement, requested permission to advertise the sale of <br />approximately twenty-two (22) abandoned vehicles, which are being <br />stored at Steve & Gene's Auto & Truck Salvage and Repair, 3109 <br />South Gertrude Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that <br />all vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, <br />identification checks had been run for auto theft and the owners <br />and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the above request was <br />approved and a date of August 18, 1987 was established for the <br />receiving and opening of sealed bids. <br />1 <br />1 <br />
