REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 4, 1987 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the above referred to proposals were referred to the <br />City Controller for review and recommendation. <br />DENY REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 1114 SOUTH <br />CARROLL STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that pursuant to the request received on <br />July 14, 1987 to purchase the above referred to City -owned <br />property, the appropriate City departments and bureaus have <br />reviewed the request and provided their recommendations. <br />The Department of Economic Development recommended that the above <br />referred to lot not be sold and that other property in this area <br />also not be sold until the Department has completed their <br />analysis and land use development policy for the area. <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. <br />Leszczynski and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the <br />request to purchase the City -owned property at 1114 South Carroll <br />Street was denied. <br />AMEND BID - ONE (1) 1987 TYPE I MODULAR AMBULANCE - FIRE <br />DEPARTMENT <br />Assistant Fire Chief Daniel Mirocha advised the Board that in <br />August of 1986 the Board sought bids for one (1) 1987 Type I <br />modular ambulance and on September 23, 1987 awarded to the lowest <br />bidder, St. Ives, Inc., Toledo, Ohio in the amount of $46,345.00. <br />without trade. <br />Since that time, it has been determined that the Department <br />desires to accept the trade-in offer and St. Ives has agreed to <br />take the trade. Chief Mirocha stated that in reviewing the bids <br />that were originally received for the ambulance, St. Ives would <br />still be the lowest bidder with trade. Along with that, the <br />Department has had a change in the original specifications and <br />has had windows installed on the side of the module for an <br />additional cost of $300.00. Therefore, based on the the above, <br />the contract with St. Ives is now in the amount of $44,145.00 <br />computed as follows: <br />Original bid $46,345.00 <br />Less trade-in - 2,500.00 <br />$43,845.00 <br />Windows - add: 300.00 <br />$44,145.00 <br />Mr. Vance made a motion that the original award made on September <br />23, 1987 to St. Ives be amended to reflect the trade-in of an <br />ambulance and change in specifications to allow the installation <br />of windows on the module at an additional cost of $300.00. Mrs. <br />DeClercq seconded the motion and it carried. <br />AWARD QUOTATION - CONCRETE WORK - SALVATION ARMY <br />Mr, Michael P. Meeks, Director, Division of Engineering, advised <br />the Board that he has reviewed the quotations received and opened <br />by the Board on July 28, 1987 for concrete work at the Salvation <br />Army and recommends that the quotation of R.A. Lange Construction <br />Co., Inc. South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $5,589.35 be <br />awarded. Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mrs. <br />DeClercq and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the <br />quotation awarded. <br />AWARD QUOTATION - CONCRETE WORK - BUSINESS COMMUNICATION CENTER <br />Mr. Michael P. Meeks, Director, Division of Engineering, advised <br />that he has reviewed the quotations received on July 28, 1987 for <br />concrete improvements at the Business Communication Center <br />located at the southwest corner of Michigan Street and Western <br />
