REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 23, 1987 <br />I <br />1 <br />I <br />REQUEST OF BROUGH PRODUCTION TO STAGE FIREWORKS DISPLAY - JULY 3, <br />1987 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Steven E. Kimbrough, President, <br />Brough's Productions, Inc., & Talent Consultant, 229 South <br />Michigan, Center City Place, Suite 2C, South Bend, Indiana, <br />advised that one of his first big promotions is the hosting of a <br />fireworks display in the downtown area to promote South Bend. <br />Mr. Kimbrough advised that he would like to conduct the display <br />on July 3, 1987, said display.sponsored and supported by area <br />merchants which include Brough's Productions, Inc., Hablin Co., <br />Inc., Center City Association, Senor Kelly's, Coca Cola Bottling <br />Company and Coney Island Hot Dog. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />EST OF EMMANUEL <br />-OCTOBER. 1987 - <br />TO CONDUCT <br />:T SERVICES - <br />Reverend Brinkley Collier, Emmanuel Church, 415 West LaSalle, <br />P.O. Box 3141, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the church is <br />desirous of ministering to the "hard core" of this City <br />particularly in the area of Chapin and Napier Street and the <br />Washington and Walnut Street areas. <br />Rev. Collier therefore advised that they would like to conduct <br />street services twice a month on Saturdays from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 <br />p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. beginning July 11, 1987 <br />through the end of October, weather permitting. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE SIDEWALK SALE PERMIT APPLICATION <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the following one (1) Sidewalk Sale <br />Permit Application has been submitted to the Board for approval: <br />NAME: The Clothes Tree <br />BY: Ms. Kay Marshall, Partner <br />DATES: July 23-25, 1987 <br />LOCATION: 2212 Miami Street <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the application was approved and referred to the <br />Deputy Controller's office for issuance of the appropriate <br />permit. <br />FILING OF HUMANE SOCIETY MONTHLY REPORT - MAY <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the Humane Society report for the month of May <br />indicating matters handled for the City of South Bend was <br />accepted for filing as submitted. <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORT <br />A report from the Department of Code Enforcement indicating a <br />total of one hundred twenty-nine (129) properties cleaned from <br />June 15, 1987 to June 19, 1987, was submitted. Upon a motion <br />made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, <br />the report as submitted was filed. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />Deputy City Controller Carol M. Sanders submitted Claim Docket <br />No. 10271 through Claim Docket No. 10651 and recommended <br />approval. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. <br />Leszczynski and carried, the claims were approved and the report <br />filed. <br />
