REGULAR MEETING JUNE 2, 1987 <br />159 <br />1 <br />APPROVE ETHNIC FESTIVAL BOOTH APPLICATIONS <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Michael L. Vance, Director, <br />Administration and Finance, has reviewed additional Ethnic <br />Festival Booth applications as submitted by Ms. Denielle Baldwin <br />of the Office of Community Affairs and recommends approval of the <br />following four (4) applications: <br />FOOD BOOTHS - 1 <br />Apostolic Temple Church (David C. Dorsett) <br />CRAFT BOOTHS - 1 <br />Oriental Food Specialties (Pyong Ho Kim) <br />DISPLAY BOOTHS - 2 <br />Discovery Toys (Jeannie Garrett) <br />Michiana Sea Cadets (Dennis Peterson) <br />TOTAL FOR APPROVAL - 4 <br />It was noted that on May 26, 1987, the Board of Public Works <br />approved ninety (90) food, craft and display booth applications <br />for the Ethnic Festival. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the applications as submitted were approved. <br />APPROVE CARNIVAL AND CIRCUS LICENSE APPLICATION - SOUTH BEND BOYS <br />CLUB <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Ms. Debra Elliott, Executive <br />Director, South Bend Boys Club, 416 East Wenger, South Bend, <br />Indiana, has submitted a license application to conduct a circus <br />at the 4-H Fairgrounds on June 5-7, 1987. <br />Mr. Leszczynski further advised that the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, Police Department, St. Joseph County Health Department <br />and Area Plan Commission have reviewed the application and <br />recommend approval. <br />Additionally, Mr. Jack A. Mathews, Building Commissioner and <br />Secretary of the Board of Zoning Appeals, has advised that on <br />May 28, 1987, the Board of Zoning Appeals granted a variance to <br />the South Bend Boys Club to conduct the circus at the 4-H <br />Fairgrounds. <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the recommendations were accepted and <br />the license application approved. <br />DENY REQUEST ' <br />WEDDING - JUN' <br />CLOSE ALLEY BEHI] <br />7 <br />BEND A <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joan Riley, 1206 South Bend <br />Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, requested that the alley behind the <br />house at 1206 South Bend Avenue be closed on June 7, 1987 from <br />12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. for a wedding. Mr. Leszczynski further <br />advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />Department Traffic Division have reviewed this request and <br />recommend denial. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the recommendation was <br />accepted and the request denied. <br />
