91 <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 2, 1987 <br />DENY REQUEST TO CLOSE 1500 BLOCK OF TAYLOR STREET AND SIDEWALK <br />FOR EXTRA LARGE YARD SALE - JUNE 6, 1987 <br />Mr. Leszczynski. advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the <br />request submitted to the Board on May 26, 1987, by Ms. Mary Jean <br />Hines, to close the 1500 block of Indiana Avenue. They advised <br />that the request has been changed in that Ms. Hines is requesting <br />that the 1500 block of Taylor Street be closed instead of the <br />1500 block of Indiana Avenue. <br />Despite this change however, it is the recommendation of the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic <br />Division that this request be denied. Therefore, upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, <br />the recommendation was accepted and the request denied. <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORT <br />A report from the Department of Code Enforcement indicating a <br />total of one hundred seventeen (117) properties cleaned from May <br />26, 1987 thru May 29, 1987, was submitted. Upon a motion made by <br />Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the report as <br />submitted was filed. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />Mr. John W. Ferguson, Executive Director, St. Joseph County Job <br />Training Program submitted a list containing one hundred <br />fifty-five (155) claims and recommended approval. Additionally, <br />Deputy City Controller Carol M. Sanders submitted Claim Docket <br />No. 9184 through Claim Docket No. 9353 and recommended approval. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and <br />carried, the claims were approved and the reports as submitted <br />were filed. <br />PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR: <br />APPROVE RECOMMENDATION TO ADVERTISE THE SALE OF CITY -OWNED <br />PROPERTY AT BOWEN STREET <br />Mr. Vance reminded Board members that on May 19, 1987, Mr. <br />Christopher Davey and Mr. Robert Dunbar expressed an interest in <br />purchasing 1.14 acres of City -owned property in the area of the <br />retention basin on Bowen Street. At that time, the request was <br />referred to the necessary City departments and bureaus for review <br />and recommendation. <br />Mr. Vance made a motion that in order to expedite the sale of <br />this property, that the legal advertisements be placed in the <br />newspapers offering this property for sale subject to the <br />recommendations of the various departments and bureaus being <br />received and subject to the removal of this property from the <br />City inventory through a Resolution of the Board. Mr. <br />Leszczynski seconded the motion and it carried. <br />RECESS (15 MINUTES) <br />After the completion of all items listed on the agenda, at 9:45 <br />a.m. Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the Board take a fifteen <br />(15) minute recess in order to give Fire Chief Luther Taylor an <br />opportunity to review the bids received for one (1) EMS Ambulance <br />Unit and to provide a recommendation to the Board. Mr. Vance <br />seconded the motion and it carried. <br />
