134, REGULAR MEETING MAY 5, 1987 ST OF WEST SIDE MEMORIAL COMMITTEE TO CONDUCT ANNUAL IAL DAY PARADE - MAY 25, 1987 - REFERRED In a letter to the Board, Ms. Adeline Waslicki-Jaskowiak, Secretary, West Side Memorial Committee, South Bend, Indiana, has requested permission to conduct the annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 25, 1987. Ms. Waslicki-Jaskowiak stated that the parade will assemble at 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of Olive and Ford Streets and will move out at 8:30 a.m. proceeding west on Ford Street past Pierre Navarre School to disband at Summit Drive. She further stated that the parade will last approximately one and one-half hours. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the above request was referred to the necessary City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 1113 BURNS STREET - REFERRED Ms. Cary Batteast, 1029 Whitehall Drive, South Bend, Indiana, has advised that she would like to purchase the City -owned lot at 1113 Burns Street. Ms. Batteast stated that she owns property abutting this lot. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the request was referred to the necessary City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. REQUEST FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE AT 219 EAST MARION STREET - REFERRED Ms. Charlotte N. Wentland, 219 East Marion Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested that the parking space in front of her residence be designated as a handicapped parking space. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. REQUEST OF NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSING SERVICES TO PLACE A TRAILER ON FRANCIS STREET FOR THIRTY DAYS - REFERRED Mr. Tim Lorenc, Housing Specialist, Neighborhood Housing Services, advised that NHS and the South Bend Community School Building Trades have been involved in a joint project over the last year entailing the construction of a new house at 740 North Frances Street. He stated that because this project was a learning experience for the high school students, a portable classroom was set on the site in September of 1986. The construction process has now reached the point where grading and sod installation are ready and therefore the portable classroom must be moved. Therefore, Mr. Lorenc requested permission to place the trailer on Frances Street until approximately June 11, 1987, which would be for approximately thirty (30) days. He advised that this move is very important to the completion of the project. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. REQUEST TO CLOSE 1300 BLOCK OF WEST LISTON STREET FOR AUSTIN FAMILY REUNION - JULY 25, 1987 - REFERRED In a letter to the Board, Cleo Austin, President and Patsy Hartz, Secretary, Austin Family Reunion, 201 North Kenmore Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to close the 1300 block of West Liston Street, from Walnut to the west corner alley of 1313 West Liston Street, on July 25, 1987 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 1 E
