134, <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 5, 1987 <br />ST OF WEST SIDE MEMORIAL COMMITTEE TO CONDUCT ANNUAL <br />IAL DAY PARADE - MAY 25, 1987 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Adeline Waslicki-Jaskowiak, <br />Secretary, West Side Memorial Committee, South Bend, Indiana, has <br />requested permission to conduct the annual Memorial Day Parade on <br />Monday, May 25, 1987. <br />Ms. Waslicki-Jaskowiak stated that the parade will assemble at <br />8:00 a.m. at the intersection of Olive and Ford Streets and will <br />move out at 8:30 a.m. proceeding west on Ford Street past Pierre <br />Navarre School to disband at Summit Drive. She further stated <br />that the parade will last approximately one and one-half hours. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the above request was referred to the necessary City <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 1113 BURNS STREET - <br />REFERRED <br />Ms. Cary Batteast, 1029 Whitehall Drive, South Bend, Indiana, has <br />advised that she would like to purchase the City -owned lot at <br />1113 Burns Street. Ms. Batteast stated that she owns property <br />abutting this lot. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded <br />by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the request was referred to the <br />necessary City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. <br />REQUEST FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE AT 219 EAST <br />MARION STREET - REFERRED <br />Ms. Charlotte N. Wentland, 219 East Marion Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, requested that the parking space in front of her <br />residence be designated as a handicapped parking space. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and <br />carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review <br />and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSING SERVICES TO PLACE A TRAILER ON <br />FRANCIS STREET FOR THIRTY DAYS - REFERRED <br />Mr. Tim Lorenc, Housing Specialist, Neighborhood Housing <br />Services, advised that NHS and the South Bend Community School <br />Building Trades have been involved in a joint project over the <br />last year entailing the construction of a new house at 740 North <br />Frances Street. He stated that because this project was a <br />learning experience for the high school students, a portable <br />classroom was set on the site in September of 1986. The <br />construction process has now reached the point where grading and <br />sod installation are ready and therefore the portable classroom <br />must be moved. <br />Therefore, Mr. Lorenc requested permission to place the trailer <br />on Frances Street until approximately June 11, 1987, which would <br />be for approximately thirty (30) days. He advised that this move <br />is very important to the completion of the project. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE 1300 BLOCK OF WEST LISTON STREET FOR AUSTIN <br />FAMILY REUNION - JULY 25, 1987 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Cleo Austin, President and Patsy Hartz, <br />Secretary, Austin Family Reunion, 201 North Kenmore Street, South <br />Bend, Indiana, requested permission to close the 1300 block of <br />West Liston Street, from Walnut to the west corner alley of 1313 <br />West Liston Street, on July 25, 1987 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 <br />1 <br />E <br />
