REGULAR MEETING APRIL 14, 1987 <br />REQUEST OF UNITED RELIGIOUS COMMUNITY TO CONDUCT TOUR DURING <br />ETHNIC FESTIVAL - REFERRED <br />Ms. Mikki Dobski, Director, Office of Community Affairs, <br />submitted a request from United Religious Community to conduct a <br />downtown tour during the Ethnic Festival. Ms. Dobski stated that <br />on behalf of the Ethnic Festival she would recommend approval of <br />this event. <br />It was noted that the "Neighborhood Roots" tour would be a bus <br />tour leaving from the festival area. A host would serve as tour <br />guide, noting buildings and streets of historical origins, <br />especially pointing out the different ethnic influences. The <br />tour would be limited to the downtown area and would last thirty <br />(30) to forty (40) minutes and occur a scheduled number of times <br />during the two (2) day festival. <br />It is requested that the tour be approved as well as a location <br />for the tour bus from which tours would begin and end. Also, it <br />is requested that the Festival include in its publicity a Notice <br />of the tours and tour times. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the above request was referred to the necessary City <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE 900 BLOCK OF <br />SCOUTS BICYCLE CLINIC - MAY 9 <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. <br />Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, <br />900 block of Napoleon Street, <br />Avenue on May 9, 1987 between <br />NAPOLEON S <br />FOR BROWNIE GIR] <br />1987 - REFERRED <br />Constance J. Moser, <br />requested permission <br />between Eddy Street <br />the hours of 1:00-3 <br />1318 Longfellow <br />to close the <br />and Notre Dame <br />00 P.M. <br />Ms. Moser stated that two (2) patrols of Brownie Girl Scouts will <br />be conducting a bicycle clinic which would include practice <br />riding and safety rules. She stated that the location is in <br />front of the patrol leader's residence. <br />Additionally, if inclement weather develops, a rain date of <br />Saturday, May 16, 1987 has been selected. <br />Ms. Moser also requested the use of twelve (12) orange cones if <br />possible. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review <br />and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF CHET WAGGONER LITTLE LEAGUE TO CONDUCT <br />DAY PARADE - MAY 16, 1987 - REFERRED <br />Mr. Daniel C. Dutrieux, Parade Representative for <br />Little League, P.O. Box 3744, South Bend, Indiana, <br />the little league is having its opening day on May <br />their park located at 3300 Riverside Drive. <br />ANNUAL 0 <br />Chet Waggoner <br />advised that <br />16, 1987 at <br />He is therefore requesting permission to have an opening day <br />parade on that date. The starting time of the parade will be <br />8:00 a.m. from the 100 block of Park Lane which is located on the <br />south side of Leeper Park. The route would be as follows: <br />West on Park Lane to Lafayette Blvd.; South on Lafayette <br />to Navarre Street; west on Navarre to Portage Street; north <br />on Portage to Cleveland Road; east on Cleveland Road to <br />Riverside Drive; south on Riverside Drive to the park <br />entrance. <br />1 <br />
