REGULAR MEETING APRIL 14. 1987 <br />Mr. Dutrieux further requested that a police escort be assigned <br />to the parade to help get the children safely to the park. Mr. <br />Dutrieux advised that approximately 400-500 children will <br />participate in the parade, under adult supervision, for the <br />entire parade which should last approximately thirty (30) <br />minutes. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review <br />and recommendation. <br />ST OF ST. JOE WATERCOLOR SOCIETY FOR ONE-WAY DESIGNATION OF <br />TS IN CONJUNCTION WITH ART FAIR - JUNE 20-21. 1987 - <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Jennifer S. Fox, Director, St. Joe <br />Valley Watercolor Society, 54479 Whispering Oak Drive, Mishawaka, <br />Indiana, advised that the Society has been granted permission <br />from Park Superintendent James Seitz to use Leeper Park for the <br />Leeper Park Art Fair to be held on June 20-21, 1987. <br />Additionally, they have also requested the services of the Civil <br />Defense for the safety of the fair participants. <br />She stated that to ease traffic congestion on the day of the <br />Fair, the Society is requesting that Riverside Drive, adjacent to <br />Leeper Park, be made one-way west and that Park Lane also be made <br />one-way east during the days of the Art Fair. She further <br />requested that both sides of the street be posted with no parking <br />to be enforced by the Civil Defense. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for <br />review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF SBN AIRSHOW '87 FOR TRAFFIC ASSISTANCE - JULY 25. 1987 <br />- REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Michael L. Flora, Airport <br />Authority, Safety Division Chief, Michiana Regional Airport, 4477 <br />Terminal Drive, South Bend, Indiana, advised that on behalf of <br />SBN Airshow '87 he is requesting assistance of the South Bend <br />Police Department for traffic control. He stated that the <br />Airshow is scheduled for Saturday, July 25, 1987 and will include <br />the Air Force ThunderBirds. Due to the participation of the Air <br />Force Team, attendance is anticipated to be in excess of 75,000 <br />people. Additionally, Mr. Flora stated that he has been asked by <br />the SBN Airshow Committee to request that the traffic control <br />services be provided at no cost to SBN Airshow, in order to <br />facilitate a larger donation to the Special Olympics. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the request was submitted to the Police Department <br />Traffic Division and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for <br />review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the following six (6) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />1. NEW INSTALLATION, STOP SIGN - On Lebanon at Broadway. <br />("T" Intersection). <br />2. NEW INSTALLATION, STOP SIGN - On Chamberlain at Essex. <br />("T" Intersection). <br />3. NEW INSTALLATION, STOP SIGN - On Chamberlain at Preston. <br />("T" Intersection). <br />
