DeClercq, Director, Department of Code
Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of
approximately eleven (11) abandoned vehicles, which are being
stored at Steve & Gene's Auto & Truck Salvage and Repair, 3109
South Gertrude Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that
all vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days,
identification checks had been run for auto theft and the owners
and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq,
seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above request was approved
and a date of April 14, 1987, was established for the receiving
and opening of sealed bids.
REQUEST OF LINCOLN SCHOOL FOR YELLOW CURB AT BUS DROP-OFF AND
PICK-UP AREA ON EAST SIDE OF VERNON STREET - REFERRED
Mr. Leszczynski advised that Obera McDonald, Principal of Lincoln
School, 1425 East Calvert Street, South Bend, Indiana, has
indicated that there are problems with the bus pick-up and
drop-off area at Lincoln School. Ms. McDonald stated that
students who ride the bus are picked -up and dropped -off on the
east side of Vernon Street. She would therefore like to have a
yellow line painted along the entire area. She further stated
that they have a problem first with the safety of the children
and without a visible indication for "no parking" there is no
indication to parents and others that this area is off limits.
Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by
Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau
of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic
Division for review and recommendation.
1
1
1
