REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 17, 1987 <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall be <br />submitted to the Common Council for its consideration and <br />adoption of an appropriate Resolution. <br />DATED this 17th day of March, 1987. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />s/ Patricia E. DeClercq <br />s/ Michael L. Vance <br />ATTEST: <br />s/Sandra M. Parmerlee, Clerk <br />AWARD BID - SYCAMORE/LA SALLE WALKWAY PROJECT <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Michael P. Meeks, Director, <br />Division of Engineering, recommended that the Board award the low <br />bid of L. L. Geans & Sons, Inc., 1721 North Home Street <br />Mishawaka, Indiana, for the above referred to project in the <br />amount of $139,816.51 which includes the base bid and Alternate <br />#2. Mr. Meeks additionally pointed out that a small discrepancy <br />of $4.00 was found on the L.L. Geans bid but this change did not <br />affect the low bid. It was noted that bids for this project were <br />opened by the Board on March 10, 1987. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the recommendation was accepted and the bid awarded, <br />subject to the filing of the appropriate Insurance, Performance <br />Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF <br />ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq, Director, Department of Code <br />Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of <br />approximately twenty (20) abandoned vehicles, which are being <br />stored at Steve & Gene's Auto & Truck Salvage and Repair, 3109 <br />South Gertrude Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that <br />all vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, <br />identification checks had been run for auto theft and the owners <br />and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, <br />seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the above request was <br />approved and a date of March 31, 1987 as established for the <br />receiving and opening of sealed bids. <br />ST TO CONDUCT THE 12TH ANNUAL WORLD'S LARGEST GARAGE SALE - <br />JUNE 13, 1987 - REFERRED <br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Ms. Denielle Baldwin, Community <br />Affairs, requested permission to hold the 12th Annual World's <br />Largest Garage Sale at the Colfax Parking garage on Saturday, <br />June 13, 1987. <br />Ms. Baldwin indicated that in addition to the standard traffic <br />controls, crowd control and paramedic coverage is requested. <br />Additionally, the landscaped lot south of the parking garage is <br />requested for extra booth space, concessions and seating. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the request was referred to various City departments and <br />bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT POLICE DEPARTMENT BICYCLE AND <br />UNCLAIMED PROPERTY AUCTION - MAY 2, 1987 <br />Mr. Vance advised that Police Chief Charles T. Hurley and <br />Services Division Chief Ronald Marciniak requested permission to <br />conduct a public auction on Saturday, May 2, 1987 from 8:30 a.m. <br />1 <br />
