REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 24, 1987 1 1 APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR T: RECEIPT OF BIDS - S MATERIALS FOR THE STREET DEPARTMENT FOR 1987 In a letter to the Board, Mr. William Penn, Director, Transportation, requested that the Board advertise for receipt of bids for various types of street materials Street Department for 1987. APPROVE REQUEST OF MAURICE MATTHYS TO CONDUCT ANNUAL PARADE - MAY 16, 1987 Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to the Board on February 10, 1987 and recommend approval of this annual event. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request approved. REQUEST FOR PARTIAL STREET CLOSURE IN CONJUNCTION WITH ESTATE AUCTION REFERRED In a letter to the Board, Ms. Betty Hawley, Personal Representa- tive of the Estate of Geraldine Wittner, 127 East Ewing Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, requested to have the 1500 block of Virginia Street, from Indiana Avenue to the alley, closed to traffic on May 2, 1987, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for a public estate auction which will be conducted at 1013 East Indiana Avenue. Ms. Hawley stated that for safety purposes the auctioneer would like the street beside the property closed during the auction. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. APPROVE REQUEST FOR HOUSE MOVE PERMIT (FREDERICKSON HOUSE) Mr. Jack Mathews, Building Commissioner, advised that Lykowski Construction, Inc., House Moving Engineers, 21707 West Ireland Road, South Bend, Indiana, has requested a permit to move a house known as the Frederickson House, from 233 North Lafayette Street to 410 West Washington Street. Mr. Mathews stated that utility companies have been contacted and their requirements have been satisfied. Additionally, the appropriate Certificate of Insurance has been submitted and is in order and the route submitted with the request has been recommended for approval by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Mr. Mathews additionally stated that sufficient information had been provided concerning how the existing site will be left as well as building layouts of the relocated site. Therefore, Mr. Mathews recommends approval of the request to move the house as referred to above. It was noted that Mr. Lykowski is also in the process of securing a State of Indiana moving permit in order to utilize State Road 20 for approximately one -hundred feet. Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the recommendation as submitted by Mr. Mathews was accepted and the request approved.
