REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 24, 1987 <br />1 <br />1 <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR T: <br />RECEIPT OF BIDS - S <br />MATERIALS FOR THE STREET DEPARTMENT FOR 1987 <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. William Penn, Director, <br />Transportation, requested that the Board advertise for <br />receipt of bids for various types of street materials <br />Street Department for 1987. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was <br />Division of <br />the <br />for the <br />Vance, <br />approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF MAURICE MATTHYS TO CONDUCT ANNUAL PARADE - MAY <br />16, 1987 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the <br />above referred to request submitted to the Board on February 10, <br />1987 and recommend approval of this annual event. Therefore, <br />upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request <br />approved. <br />REQUEST FOR PARTIAL STREET CLOSURE IN CONJUNCTION WITH ESTATE <br />AUCTION REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Betty Hawley, Personal Representa- <br />tive of the Estate of Geraldine Wittner, 127 East Ewing Avenue, <br />South Bend, Indiana, requested to have the 1500 block of Virginia <br />Street, from Indiana Avenue to the alley, closed to traffic on <br />May 2, 1987, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for a public estate <br />auction which will be conducted at 1013 East Indiana Avenue. Ms. <br />Hawley stated that for safety purposes the auctioneer would like <br />the street beside the property closed during the auction. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and <br />carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review <br />and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST FOR HOUSE MOVE PERMIT (FREDERICKSON HOUSE) <br />Mr. Jack Mathews, Building Commissioner, advised that Lykowski <br />Construction, Inc., House Moving Engineers, 21707 West Ireland <br />Road, South Bend, Indiana, has requested a permit to move a house <br />known as the Frederickson House, from 233 North Lafayette Street <br />to 410 West Washington Street. <br />Mr. Mathews stated that utility companies have been contacted and <br />their requirements have been satisfied. Additionally, the <br />appropriate Certificate of Insurance has been submitted and is in <br />order and the route submitted with the request has been <br />recommended for approval by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. <br />Mr. Mathews additionally stated that sufficient information had <br />been provided concerning how the existing site will be left as <br />well as building layouts of the relocated site. <br />Therefore, Mr. Mathews recommends approval of the request to move <br />the house as referred to above. <br />It was noted that Mr. Lykowski is also in the process of securing <br />a State of Indiana moving permit in order to utilize State Road <br />20 for approximately one -hundred feet. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and <br />carried, the recommendation as submitted by Mr. Mathews was <br />accepted and the request approved. <br />Transportation, South Bend Youth Symphony, 2222 <br />South Bend, Indiana, advised that this year the <br />rperson <br />Topswood <br />Symphony <br />of <br />Lane, <br />has <br />
