ow <br />REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 26. 1988 <br />REQUEST OF THE GINGERBREAD HOUSE DAY CARE FOR "NO PARKING LOADING <br />ZONE" SIGNS AT 430 SOUTH 26TH STREET - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Wilma C. Rolston, Owner, <br />The <br />Gingerbread House, 430 South 26th Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, <br />requested that two (2) "No parking loading zone" signs <br />be placed <br />in front of the day care facility at 430-2 South 26th <br />Street. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. <br />DeClercq <br />and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic <br />and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division <br />for <br />review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF PARKVIEW TAVERN TO CLOSE ALLEY ADJACENT TO <br />BUILDING IN <br />CONJUNCTION WITH VIET NAM FUNDRAISER - OCTOBER 8, 1988 <br />- REFERRED <br />Mr. Todd Ullery, Manager and Owner, The Parkview Tavern <br />Corporation, 515 East Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, <br />requested that the alley adjacent to Niles Avenue, between <br />Balloons and More and the Parkview Tavern, be closed from 3:00 <br />p.m. until 12:00 midnight on October 8, 1988 in conjunction with <br />the Viet Nam Memorial FundRaiser to be held at the Parkview <br />Tavern. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. <br />DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate <br />City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF THE LINCOLNWAY WEST BUSINESS ASSOCIATION TO HANG <br />CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS AT NINE (9) MAJOR INTERSECTIONS - REFERRED <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of a letter <br />from Mr. Kevin K. Weinberg, President, Lincolnway West Business <br />Association, 23700 Marquette Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, and <br />Mr. Paul Rohleder, Project Chairman, advising that the L.W.W.B.A. <br />is requesting permission to hang appropriate Christmas decora- <br />tions on the nine (9) major intersections of Lincolnway West with <br />the boundaries being Lafayette Boulevard on the east and Bendix <br />Drive on the west. The letter stated that the decorations will <br />be in keeping with the area and will be tastefully done. Also, <br />the Association has received approval from the State of Indiana <br />to use the light polls. <br />Mr. Paul Rohleder, Project Chairman, was present and submitted to <br />the Board photographs of Christmas decorations that have been <br />selected for this project. He also advised that the Committee is <br />looking into the installation of brackets on the light polls for <br />other uses. <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. <br />APPROVE RECOMMENDATIONS - APPLICATIONS FOR BIDDER QUALIFICATION <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Affirmative Action Review <br />Committee has advised that after a complete review, the Committee <br />has found that the following companies have met the requirements <br />of the South Bend Affirmative Action ordinance: <br />1. Pence Dickens & Heeter <br />2. LCI, Ltd. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the applications <br />of the above named companies approved. <br />APPROVE CONTRACTORS AND EXCAVATION BONDS <br />Mr. Melvin Humphrey, Engineering Department, recommended that the <br />following Contractors and Excavation Bonds be approved as <br />indicated: <br />
