<br />APPROVE PROPOSAL - EXTENSION OF CLEVELAND ROAD EXTENSION
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Ken Herceg & Associates, Inc.,
<br />Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, 425 North Michigan
<br />Street, Suite 208, South Bend, Indiana, submitted a Proposal for
<br />the Extension of Cleveland Road Extension from 650 feet east of
<br />Brick Road to 2000 feet East of Cleveland Road for increased
<br />safety. The Proposal indicates that the preliminary estimates
<br />indicate that this construction will cost approximately
<br />$160,000.00. Additionally, the Proposal indicates that the total
<br />fee for engineering services of Ken Herceg & Associates, Inc.
<br />relating to this project is $21,000.00. Therefore, upon a motion
<br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried,
<br />the Proposal as submitted was approved and executed.
<br />REQUEST OF FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH TO CONDUCT ANNUAL CROP WALK -
<br />OCTOBER 9, 1988 - REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Diane Booher, Arrangements Chair,
<br />1988 CROP Committee, First Christian Church, 1101 East Jefferson
<br />Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, advised that on behalf of the
<br />Crop Committee of St. Joseph County she would like permission to
<br />conduct the annual 10K CROP Walk on Sunday, October 9, 1988 from
<br />2:00 to 5:00 p.m. along the route submitted with the request.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq
<br />and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City
<br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST TO CLOSE GARDEN LANE, FROM SAMPLE STREET TO DOGWOOD, FOR
<br />NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - SEPTEMBER 11, 1988 - REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mrs. Paul Curry, 901 Garden Lane, South
<br />Bend, Indiana, advised that the residents of the 900 block of
<br />Garden Lane, would like their street closed on Sunday, September
<br />11, 1988 from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. from the corner of Garden
<br />Lane and Sample Street to the next block of Garden Lane and
<br />Dogwood Street for a neighborhood block party. Therefore, upon a
<br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and
<br />carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and
<br />Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review
<br />and recommendation.
<br />UEST TO CLOSE THE 300 BLOCK OF NORTH TAYLOR STREET FOR
<br />GHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - SEPTEMBER 17 1988
<br />Mr. Mark Keene, 316 North Taylor Street, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />petitioned the Board to close the 300 block of North Taylor
<br />Street, between Lincoln Way West to LaSalle Street, from 3:00
<br />p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on September 17, 1988 for a neighborhood block
<br />party. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs.
<br />DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of
<br />Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division
<br />for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST OF TEMPLE BETH-EL TO ALLOW PARKING ON BOTH SIDES OF
<br />MADISON STREET IN CONJUNCTION WITH HOLY DAY SERVICES - SEPTEMBER
<br />11-12 AND 20-21, 1988 - REFERRED
<br />Ms. Sharon Kalling, President, Temple Beth -El, 305 West Madison
<br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the Temple again will
<br />require parking on both sides of the Temple block on West Madison
<br />Street and North Lafayette Boulevard for Holy Day services on
<br />September 11-12 and September 20-21, 1988. Upon a motion made by
<br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the
<br />request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and
<br />the Police Department Traffic Division for review and
<br />recommendation.
