REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 29, 1988 <br />DENY REQUEST OF NAPTOWN RIDERS TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - SEPTEMBER <br />2-4, 1988 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to <br />the Board on August 8, 1988. Based on that review, Mr. <br />Leszczynski made a motion that the request be denied. Mrs. <br />DeClercq seconded the motion and it carried. Ms. Humphreys <br />requested that the Clerk of the Board advise the Petitioner that <br />it is the Board's policy not to allow street closures for <br />multiple days and even though the Board has approved their <br />requests in the past, it has been the Board's recent policy not <br />to allow multiple day block parties. <br />APPROVE BLOCK PARTY REQUESTS: <br />- 36TH STREET, FROM VINE TO MISHAWAKA AVENUE, - SEPTEMBER 3, 1988 <br />- 1300 & 1400 BLOCKS OF E. MONROE - SEPTEMBER 10 1988 <br />- 1600 BLOCK OF DEVON CIRCLE - SEPTEMBER 11. 19RR <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that in a letter to the Board, Ms. Debby <br />Holland, 936 36th Street, South Bend, Indiana and Mr. Nick <br />Sionos, 937 36th Street, South Bend, Indiana requested that 36th <br />Street, from Vine to Mishawaka Avenue, be closed on September 3, <br />1988 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for a hog roast block party. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department have reviewed this request and <br />recommend approval. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. <br />DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the <br />recommendation was accepted and the request approved. <br />Additionally, Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division have <br />reviewed the block party requests submitted to the Board on <br />August 22, 1988 to close the 1300 and 1400 blocks of E. Monroe <br />Street and the 1600 block of Devon Circle and recommend <br />approval. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, <br />seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the recommendation was <br />accepted and the requests approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF SINAI SYNAGOGUE TO REMOVE PARKING RESTRICTIONS <br />IN VICINITY OF THE SYNAGOGUE FOR HIGH HOLY DAYS - SEPTEMBER 11-13 <br />AND 20-21, 1988 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to <br />the Board on August 22, 1988 and recommend approval. Upon a <br />motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and <br />carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request <br />approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF RILEY HIGH SCHOOL TO CONDUCT MARCH-A-THON - <br />OCTOBER 8, 1988 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Police Department Traffic <br />Division, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the City Attorney's <br />office have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to <br />the Board on August 22, 1988 and recommend approval of this <br />annual event. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, <br />seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the recommendation was <br />accepted and the request approved. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the following one (1) traffic control device was <br />approved: <br />1 <br />
