REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 29, 1988 DENY REQUEST OF NAPTOWN RIDERS TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - SEPTEMBER 2-4, 1988 Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to the Board on August 8, 1988. Based on that review, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be denied. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion and it carried. Ms. Humphreys requested that the Clerk of the Board advise the Petitioner that it is the Board's policy not to allow street closures for multiple days and even though the Board has approved their requests in the past, it has been the Board's recent policy not to allow multiple day block parties. APPROVE BLOCK PARTY REQUESTS: - 36TH STREET, FROM VINE TO MISHAWAKA AVENUE, - SEPTEMBER 3, 1988 - 1300 & 1400 BLOCKS OF E. MONROE - SEPTEMBER 10 1988 - 1600 BLOCK OF DEVON CIRCLE - SEPTEMBER 11. 19RR Mr. Leszczynski advised that in a letter to the Board, Ms. Debby Holland, 936 36th Street, South Bend, Indiana and Mr. Nick Sionos, 937 36th Street, South Bend, Indiana requested that 36th Street, from Vine to Mishawaka Avenue, be closed on September 3, 1988 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for a hog roast block party. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department have reviewed this request and recommend approval. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request approved. Additionally, Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the block party requests submitted to the Board on August 22, 1988 to close the 1300 and 1400 blocks of E. Monroe Street and the 1600 block of Devon Circle and recommend approval. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the requests approved. APPROVE REQUEST OF SINAI SYNAGOGUE TO REMOVE PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN VICINITY OF THE SYNAGOGUE FOR HIGH HOLY DAYS - SEPTEMBER 11-13 AND 20-21, 1988 Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to the Board on August 22, 1988 and recommend approval. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request approved. APPROVE REQUEST OF RILEY HIGH SCHOOL TO CONDUCT MARCH-A-THON - OCTOBER 8, 1988 Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Police Department Traffic Division, Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the City Attorney's office have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to the Board on August 22, 1988 and recommend approval of this annual event. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request approved. APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the following one (1) traffic control device was approved: 1
