REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 22, 1988 Mr. Cook and Mr. Matteo advised that they have been working with NHS and the Northeast Neighborhood Organization regarding several in -fill projects for the area. This property was of particular attraction because it would allow for the construction of several row house condominium type units that can be accessed by a cul-de-sac improvement of Hull Street. They stated that their ability to purchase these properties would be conditioned upon available construction funds for the project and the City's improvement of the street and infrastructure. All plans for the project would be coordinated with the City and NHS. Further, they advised that they feel as though this is a high priority project for the Northeast Neighborhood that will make available reasonably priced living units. NHS has given them their support and they would hope that a 1988 start can still be accomplished. Therefore, Mr. Cook and Mr. Matteo advised that they are interested in purchasing City -owned properties at 1002 East Cedar, 1008 East Cedar, 420 North Frances and 427 North Eddy Street, South Bend, Indiana. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus in order that a determination can be made whether the City need retain the above referred to City -owned property. REQUEST TO CLOSE 1300 & 1400 BLOCKS E. MONROE FOR NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - SEPTEMBER 10, 1988 - REFERRED In a letter to the Board, Ms. Kathleen M. Wiley, 1341 E. Monroe, South Bend, Indiana, requested that the 1300 & 1400 blocks of E. Monroe be closed from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight on September 10, 1988 for a neighborhood block party. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. LOSE 1600 BLOCK OF DEVON CIRC NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - SEPTEMBER 11, 1988 - REFERRED In a letter to the Board, Mrs. Andrea Jones, 1608 Devon Circle, South Bend, Indiana, requested that the 1600 block of Devon Circle be closed from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on September 11, 1988 (rain date of September 18, 1988) for a neighborhood block party. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. APPROVE RECOMMENDATION - APPLICATIONS FOR BIDDER QUALIFICATION In a Memorandum to the Board, Mr. Jimmy Scott, on behalf of the Affirmative Action Review Committee, advised that after a complete review, the Committee has found that the following companies have met the requirements of the South Bend Affirmative Action ordinance: 1. Smith Petroleum 2. Berreth Oil, Inc. Therefore, it is the Committee's recommendation that these companies be approved as qualified City bidders. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the applications approved. 1 1 1
