<br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Ms. Humphreys, seconded by Mrs.
<br />DeClercq and carried, the recommendation of Chief Taylor was
<br />accepted, the Proposal awarded and the appropriate Contract for
<br />collection services for the year 1988 was approved and executed.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST OF POLICE DEPARTMENT TO CONDUCT BICYCLE AND
<br />UNCLAIMED PROPERTY AUCTION - OCTOBER 8, 1988
<br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Ronald Marciniak requested
<br />permission to dispose of unclaimed bicycles and other unclaimed
<br />property at a public auction to be held on Saturday, October 8,
<br />1988. The auction will be begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at
<br />12:30 p.m. or until all items are sold. It was noted that a
<br />partial list of the items to be sold include bicycles, mopeds,
<br />tools, clothing, stereos, radios, tires and miscellaneous goods.
<br />Receipts from the sale will be forwarded to the proper accounts
<br />of the City of South Bend. Chief Marciniak advised that this is
<br />the second auction of the year and will be held rain or shine in
<br />the Street Department garage at the rear of the Police Department
<br />at 701 West Sample Street. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq,
<br />seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the request was
<br />approved.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF PROPOSALS DEBT
<br />COLLECTION SERVICES FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF CODE ENFORCEMENT
<br />Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq, Director, Department of Code
<br />Enforcement, requested that the Board advertise for the receipt
<br />of Proposals for debt collection services for the Department.
<br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms.
<br />Humphreys and carried, the request was approved.
<br />REQUEST OF_SINAI SYNAGOGUE TO REMOVE PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN
<br />VICINITY OF THE SYNAGOGUE FOR HIGH HOLY DAYS - SEPTEMBER 11 12,
<br />13, 20 & 21, 1988 - REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. I. Marc Golden, President, Sinai
<br />Synagogue, 1102 East LaSalle Avenue, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />requested that parking restrictions be removed in the vicinity of
<br />the Sinai Synagogue, located at 1102 East LaSalle Avenue on
<br />September 11, 12, 13, 20 & 21, 1988 as High Holy Days will be
<br />celebrated at the synagogue on those dates. Upon a motion made
<br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the
<br />above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting
<br />and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and
<br />recommendation.
<br />REQUEST OF RILEY HIGH SCHOOL TO CONDUCT MARCH-A-THON - OCTOBER 8.

<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Tom DeShone, Director of Riley
<br />Bands, James Whitcomb Riley High School, 405 East Ewing Avenue,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to conduct a
<br />March-a-Thon on October 8, 1988, beginning at 9:00 a.m. along a
<br />route submitted with the request. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. DeClercq and carried, the above
<br />request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting,
<br />Police Department Traffic Division and City Attorney's office for
<br />review and recommendation.

<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of a letter
<br />from Mr. James A. Cook and Mr. Christopher Matteo of TARRIP, Inc.
<br />807 East Jefferson, South Bend, Indiana requesting that the City
<br />consider the sale of various properties currently owned by the
<br />City in the Hull Street area.
