<br />Therefore, it is the Committee's recommendation that this
<br />company be approved as a qualified City bidder.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys
<br />and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the application
<br />for the above named company was approved.
<br />REQUEST FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACES AT 2138 NORTH
<br />OLIVE STREET - REFERRED
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Ms. Monica Bush, 2138 North Olive
<br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, has requested that the parking space
<br />in front of her residence be designated as a handicapped parking
<br />space. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs.
<br />DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of
<br />Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division
<br />for review and recommendation.

<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Frank J. Wukovits, Sr., President,
<br />Branch #132, William Penn Club, 1024 West Indiana Avenue, South
<br />Bend, Indiana, requested that the alleys surrounding the lodge be
<br />closed in conjunction with the club's annual picnic, beginning at
<br />12:00 noon on Saturday, August 6, 1988. Upon a motion made by
<br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the
<br />request was referred to the appropriate City departments and
<br />bureaus for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST OF A.B.A.T.E. OF INDIANA TO CONDUCT MOTORCYCLE RIDE FOR
<br />MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY - SEPTEMBER 4, 1988 - REFERRED
<br />Mr. Danny Dunn, Director, Region 1 A.B.A.T.E, 1618 Leer Street,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, advised that on Sunday, September 4, 1988,
<br />A.B.A.T.E. of Indiana, Region 1, is sponsoring a benefit
<br />motorcycle ride for Muscular Dystrophy.
<br />In order to make the ride this year safe for both participants
<br />and spectators, Mr. Dunn requested the assistance of the South
<br />Bend Police Department, Civil Defense Police and the St. Joseph
<br />County WeatherWatch in monitoring the twenty-six (26)
<br />intersections within the City of South Bend that will be utilized
<br />for this event. It was noted that traffic assistance will also
<br />be requested of the Indiana State Police and the St. Joseph
<br />County Police for traffic assistance with the intersections
<br />within their respective jurisdictions.
<br />Mr. Dunn further advised that the ride will begin at the
<br />Crumstown Conservation Club at 12:00 noon along the route
<br />submitted with the request. He stated that in 1987, over six
<br />hundred (600) motorcycles participated in the St. Joseph County
<br />ride and such rides throughout the State raised over $100,000.00
<br />for MDA.
<br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms.
<br />Humphreys and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of
<br />Traffic and Lighting, Police Department Traffic Division and City
<br />Attorney's office for review and recommendation.
