REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 6, 1988 <br />DENY REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 1216 & 1218-1220 <br />W. JEFFERSON <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that on April 18, 1988, the Board of <br />Public Works received a request to purchase the City -owned <br />property indicated above. At that time, the request was referred <br />to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. At this time, it is the recommendation of the <br />Department of Economic Development that this property not be sold <br />as it is located in the West Washington -Chapin Development Area. <br />The Department recommends that no city -owned property be sold <br />within that area until the comprehensive Plan is completed this <br />Fall. Mrs. DeClercq advised that she concurs with the <br />recommendation of the Department of Economic Development and <br />therefore made a motion that the request to purchase the above <br />referred to City -owned properties be denied. Ms. Humphreys <br />seconded the motion and it carried. <br />DENY REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT: <br />- 1002 E. CEDAR <br />- 1008 E. CEDAR <br />- 420 N. FRANCES <br />- 427 N. EDDY <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that on November 24, 1987, the Board <br />received a request from Mr. Charles Rupley, 16974 Douglas Road, <br />Mishawaka, Indiana, to purchase the above referred to City -owned <br />properties. <br />Mr. Leszczynski further advised that the Department of Economic <br />Development has advised the Board that these properties fall <br />within the City's Community Development Block Grant target area. <br />As the Department has been working with Neighborhood Housing <br />Services and the Northeast Neighborhood Organization for several <br />years now to improve the overall quality of life in the <br />neighborhood, and to protect the City's investment of time and <br />money, the Department would prefer that the Board not sell the <br />properties until a plan identifying the proposed use of the <br />properties is presented by the purchaser. <br />At this time, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by <br />Ms. Humphreys and carried, the recommendation of the Department <br />of Economic Development was accepted and therefore the request to <br />purchase the above referred to City -owned properties was denied. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF ST. MARY OF THE ASSUMPTION CHURCH TO CLOSE A <br />PORTION OF ASSUMPTION DRIVE FOR ANNUAL PARISH FESTIVAL AND PICNIC <br />- AUGUST 14, 1988 AND AUGUST 21, 1988 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to <br />the Board on May 23, 1988 and recommend approval. Therefore, <br />upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request <br />approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CLOSE 1000 BLOCK OF WOODWARD FOR ANNUAL BLOCK <br />PARTY - JUNE 11, 1988 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the <br />above referred to block party request, submitted to the Board on <br />May 23, 1988, and recommend approval. Upon a motion made by Mrs. <br />DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the <br />recommendation was accepted and the request approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CLOSE THE 1500-1700 BLOCKS OF SUNNYMEDE AVENUE <br />FOR NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - JULY 3, 1988 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the above referred to request, <br />submitted to the Board on May 31, 1988, has been reviewed by the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic <br />
