REGULAR MEETING MAY 31, 1988 <br />1. Compu/Net, Inc. <br />Therefore, the Committee recommends that this company be approved <br />as a qualified City bidder. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the application <br />approved. <br />DENY REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 240 PAGIN STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the request submitted to the Board on March <br />21, 1988 to purchase the City -owned property at 240 Pagin <br />Street. <br />Mr. Leszczynski further advised that the Department of Economic <br />Development has recommended that this property not be sold as it <br />is located within the West Washington -Chapin Development Area and <br />they do not wish to see the City property in that area sold until <br />the comprehensive plan for the area is completed. Mrs. DeClercq <br />advised that she agrees with the Department of Redevelopment and <br />stated that the Plan is underway and hopefully will be in place <br />by September. <br />Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the recommendation of <br />the Department of Economic Development to deny the request be <br />accepted and approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion, it <br />carried, and the request to purchase was denied. <br />STS TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT: <br />237 EAST FOX STREET <br />- 263 SOUTH MAPLE STREET AND <br />- 614 SOUTH COLUMBIA STREET - REFERRED <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of several <br />requests to purchase City -owned property. <br />Mr. John L. Gesto, 11035 East McKinley, Osceola, Indiana, advised <br />that having recently purchased the property at 235 East Fox <br />Street, he is interested in purchasing the vacant lot directly <br />east of that property known as 237 East Fox Street. <br />Ms. Barbara J. Neal, 1204 West Thomas Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, advised that she is interested in purchasing the <br />City -owned lot adjacent to her property known as 263 South <br />Maple. Ms. Neal stated that for the nine (9) years she has <br />resided at 1204 W. Thomas she has maintained the property. She <br />further stated that she is in the process of having her yard <br />fenced in and would like to include this area. <br />Ms. Sandra P. Kieffer for Kieffer and Zimpelman Partnership, <br />17770 Woodthrush, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the <br />Partnership would like to purchase the City -owned property at 614 <br />South Columbia Street. She stated that they have purchased three <br />(3) adjoining lots north of the east/west alley. She also <br />advised that it has come to their attention that in order that <br />they meet South Bend Municipal Code Section 21-99(g) for <br />screening of their proposed parking lot, they need more land than <br />they currently own. She further stated that their "C" zoned lot <br />is surrounded by "B" Residential property. Also, they wish to <br />screen the parking lot, not only in accordance with the code, but <br />appropriately for a residential setting. This additional lot <br />will assure that being possible. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the above referred to three (3) requests to purchase <br />1 <br />1 <br />
