WR REGULAR MEETING MAY 23, 1988 REQUEST TO CLOSE 1000 BLOCK OF WOODWARD FOR ANNUAL BLOCK PARTY - JUNE 11, 1988 - REFERRED In a letter to the Board, Ms. Lenore Peltz, 1063 Woodward, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the ten hundred block of Woodward, between Golden Avenue and Vassar Street, will be having an annual block party on June 11, 1988. Therefore, they request that the street be closed from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. APPROVE REQUEST TO CLOSE CAMPEAU STREET AT EDDY FOR A.M.E. ZION CHURCH ANNUAL CAR WASH - MAY 28, 1988 Mr. Wendell Preston, Chairman of Mens Day Committee, First AME Zion Church, 801 North Eddy Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to close off one block of Campeau Street at Eddy for the church annual car wash from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on May 28, 1988. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed this request and recommend approval. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the above referred to request was approved. APPROVE REQUEST OF CHAUFFEURS, TEAMSTERS AND HELPERS LOCAL UNION NO. 364 TO UTILIZE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY FOR LUNCHEON COOKOUT - MAY 27, 1988 Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to the Board on May 16, 1988 and recommend approval. It was noted that the luncheon cookout will take place on the treelawn area at 1916 South Main Street. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request approved. APPROVE REQUEST OF THE HOLLADAY CORPORATION TO INSTALL BARRICADES IN FRONT OF 614 NORTH MICHIGAN STREET Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to the Board on May 2, 1988, and recommend approval. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request approved. APPROVE APPLICATIONS FOR BIDDER UALIFICATION/CERTIFICATION Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Affirmative Action Review Board has advised that after a complete review, they have found that the following companies meet the requirements of the South Bend Affirmative Action Ordinance and would therefore recommend that these companies be approved as qualified City bidders: 1. CS Associates, Inc. 2. Benefit America 3. Elf Asphalt, Inc. 4. Cannon Turf Supply 5. Watcon 6. Government Leasing 7. Lincoln National Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the applications were approved. FILING OF APPLICATIONS FOR BIDDER QUALIFICATION/CERTIFICATION Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the following applications for bidder qualification/ F-j 1
