<br />stated that a lease purchase agreement funded by the Emergency
<br />Medical Services Capital Improvement Fund will be the method used
<br />for payment. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by
<br />Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request as submitted was approved.
<br />UEST OF NEW HOPE MIS
<br />BAPTIST CHURCH FOR HANDICAPPED
<br />SPACE DESIGNATION IN FRONT OF CHURCH AT 313 EAST OHIO STREET -
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Bettie J. Jackson, Assistant Church
<br />Clerk, New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 313 East Ohio Street,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, advised that the membership of the church
<br />would like to have a special section in front of their church
<br />designated for handicapped parking. She stated that signs and
<br />the curb painted blue would be requested. Further, the church
<br />has at least four (4) active members who are now in wheelchairs
<br />and of the four (4), two (2) are able to drive or are driven to
<br />church. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs.
<br />DeClercq and carried, the above request was referred to the
<br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic
<br />Division for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST OF HOSPICE OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INC. TO CONDUCT 3RD
<br />ANNUAL WALK FOR HOSPICE - OCTOBER 16, 1988 - REFERRED
<br />Mr. Thomas F. Burzynski, Executive Director, Hospice of St.
<br />Joseph County, Inc., 902 East Cedar Street, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />advised that Hospice would like to conduct its third annual Walk
<br />for Hospice on Sunday, October 16, 1988. The walk will be a 17K
<br />walk which would begin and end at Potawatomi Park. Registration
<br />at the park would begin at noon with the walk starting at 1:00
<br />p.m. Since the walk route is not lengthy, it is anticipated that
<br />the event will be concluded by 5:00 p.m. Submitted with the
<br />request was a route which is the same as used last year.
<br />Additionally, sidewalks or wide grassy areas are available to
<br />walkers along the entire route so that no in -street walking is
<br />planned. Mr. Burzynski stated that a minimum of four hundred
<br />(400) walkers are expected to participate. Upon a motion made by
<br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the
<br />request was referred to the appropriate City departments and
<br />bureaus for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST OF OUR LADY OF HUNGARY HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION TO
<br />CLOSE PORTION OF SOUTH CHAPIN STREET FOR SCHOOL FUN FAIR - JULY
<br />30, 1988 - REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Debbie J. Robakowski, President,
<br />Home and School Association, Our Lady of Hungary, 735 West
<br />Calvert Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to have
<br />the one (1) block portion of South Chapin Street blocked off
<br />between Calvert and Bruce Street on Saturday, July 30, 1988
<br />beginning at 12:00 noon in conjunction with the annual school fun
<br />fair. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs.
<br />DeClercq and carried, the above request was referred to the
<br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and
<br />recommendation.
<br />REQUEST OF ST. MARY OF THE ASSUMPTION CHURCH TO CLOSE A PORTION
<br />OF ASSUMPTION DRIVE FOR ANNUAL PARISH FESTIVAL AND PICNIC -
<br />AUGUST 14, 1988 AND AUGUST 21, 1988 - REFERRED
<br />Rev. F. Thomas Lallak, Pastor, St. Mary of the Assumption Church,
<br />3402 South Locust Road, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission
<br />to close a portion of Assumption Drive on Sunday, August 14, 1988
<br />from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in conjunction with the annual
<br />parish festival and on Sunday, August 21, 1988 from 12:00 noon
<br />until 10:00 p.m. for the annual parish picnic. Upon a motion
<br />made by Mr. Leszczynski,.seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried,
<br />the above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and
<br />Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review
<br />and recommendation.
