FEM REGULAR MEETING MAY 23, 1988 stated that a lease purchase agreement funded by the Emergency Medical Services Capital Improvement Fund will be the method used for payment. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request as submitted was approved. UEST OF NEW HOPE MIS BAPTIST CHURCH FOR HANDICAPPED SPACE DESIGNATION IN FRONT OF CHURCH AT 313 EAST OHIO STREET - In a letter to the Board, Ms. Bettie J. Jackson, Assistant Church Clerk, New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 313 East Ohio Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the membership of the church would like to have a special section in front of their church designated for handicapped parking. She stated that signs and the curb painted blue would be requested. Further, the church has at least four (4) active members who are now in wheelchairs and of the four (4), two (2) are able to drive or are driven to church. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. REQUEST OF HOSPICE OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INC. TO CONDUCT 3RD ANNUAL WALK FOR HOSPICE - OCTOBER 16, 1988 - REFERRED Mr. Thomas F. Burzynski, Executive Director, Hospice of St. Joseph County, Inc., 902 East Cedar Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that Hospice would like to conduct its third annual Walk for Hospice on Sunday, October 16, 1988. The walk will be a 17K walk which would begin and end at Potawatomi Park. Registration at the park would begin at noon with the walk starting at 1:00 p.m. Since the walk route is not lengthy, it is anticipated that the event will be concluded by 5:00 p.m. Submitted with the request was a route which is the same as used last year. Additionally, sidewalks or wide grassy areas are available to walkers along the entire route so that no in -street walking is planned. Mr. Burzynski stated that a minimum of four hundred (400) walkers are expected to participate. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. REQUEST OF OUR LADY OF HUNGARY HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION TO CLOSE PORTION OF SOUTH CHAPIN STREET FOR SCHOOL FUN FAIR - JULY 30, 1988 - REFERRED In a letter to the Board, Ms. Debbie J. Robakowski, President, Home and School Association, Our Lady of Hungary, 735 West Calvert Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to have the one (1) block portion of South Chapin Street blocked off between Calvert and Bruce Street on Saturday, July 30, 1988 beginning at 12:00 noon in conjunction with the annual school fun fair. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the above request was referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. REQUEST OF ST. MARY OF THE ASSUMPTION CHURCH TO CLOSE A PORTION OF ASSUMPTION DRIVE FOR ANNUAL PARISH FESTIVAL AND PICNIC - AUGUST 14, 1988 AND AUGUST 21, 1988 - REFERRED Rev. F. Thomas Lallak, Pastor, St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 3402 South Locust Road, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to close a portion of Assumption Drive on Sunday, August 14, 1988 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in conjunction with the annual parish festival and on Sunday, August 21, 1988 from 12:00 noon until 10:00 p.m. for the annual parish picnic. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,.seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation.
