REGULAR MEETING MAY 16, 1988 will be marketed to families and will be a relatively slow leisurely tour. Attendance will probably be between forty (40) and seventy-five (75) participants and there will be two (2) group leaders for each route. Ms. Mannix further stated that the ride will start and end at the field at the corner of Notre Dame and Angela Streets and refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the event at the Northeast Neighborhood Center. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. ACCEPT CITY OF MISHAWAKA LUNG WALK CHALLENGE - JUNE 4 1988 Mr. Leszczynski advised that the City of Mishawaka has challenged the City of South Bend to do battle in the hopes of raising funds for the American Lung Association. The challenge will be the Lung Walk which is part of the events scheduled in conjunction with the Sunburst Marathon on June 4, 1988. A measure of the collective neck sizes of each team will determine the winner. The losing team will be required to display the winning team's flag for one (1) week. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the challenge was accepted. APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT WORLD'S LARGEST GARAGE SALE - JUNE 11, 1988 Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and bureaus have now reviewed the above referred to request submitted to the Board on March 7, 1988 and recommend approval at this time. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request approved. APPROVE REQUEST TO CLOSE THE 600 BLOCK OF EAST ECKMAN I - MAY 22, 1988 Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the request submitted to the Board on May 9, 1988 by Mr. T. Mark Fay, 622 E. Eckman Street, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct a block party in the 600 block of East Eckman Street on May 22, 1988 from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. and recommend approval. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request approved. APPROVE REQUEST OF MADISON SCHOOL HOME SCHOOL ORGANIZATION TO CLOSE PARK LANE IN CONJUNCTION WITH ICE CREAM SOCIAL - MAY 20, 1988 The Bureau of Traffic & Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division have advised that they have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to the Board on May 2, 1988 and recommended approval. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request approved.
