REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 16, 1988 <br />will be marketed to families and will be a relatively slow <br />leisurely tour. Attendance will probably be between forty (40) <br />and seventy-five (75) participants and there will be two (2) <br />group leaders for each route. Ms. Mannix further stated that the <br />ride will start and end at the field at the corner of Notre Dame <br />and Angela Streets and refreshments will be served at the <br />conclusion of the event at the Northeast Neighborhood Center. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />ACCEPT CITY OF MISHAWAKA LUNG WALK CHALLENGE - JUNE 4 1988 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the City of Mishawaka has challenged <br />the City of South Bend to do battle in the hopes of raising funds <br />for the American Lung Association. The challenge will be the <br />Lung Walk which is part of the events scheduled in conjunction <br />with the Sunburst Marathon on June 4, 1988. A measure of the <br />collective neck sizes of each team will determine the winner. <br />The losing team will be required to display the winning team's <br />flag for one (1) week. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the challenge was <br />accepted. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT WORLD'S LARGEST GARAGE SALE - JUNE 11, <br />1988 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have now reviewed the above referred to request submitted <br />to the Board on March 7, 1988 and recommend approval at this <br />time. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded <br />by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the recommendation was accepted and <br />the request approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CLOSE THE 600 BLOCK OF EAST ECKMAN I <br />- MAY 22, 1988 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the <br />request submitted to the Board on May 9, 1988 by Mr. T. Mark Fay, <br />622 E. Eckman Street, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct a block <br />party in the 600 block of East Eckman Street on May 22, 1988 from <br />12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. and recommend approval. Therefore, upon <br />a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and <br />carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request <br />approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF MADISON SCHOOL HOME SCHOOL ORGANIZATION TO <br />CLOSE PARK LANE IN CONJUNCTION WITH ICE CREAM SOCIAL - MAY 20, <br />1988 <br />The Bureau of Traffic & Lighting and the Police Department <br />Traffic Division have advised that they have reviewed the above <br />referred to request submitted to the Board on May 2, 1988 and <br />recommended approval.
