<br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms.
<br />Humphreys and carried, the Agreement as indicated above was
<br />approved and executed.
<br />APPROVE IRREVOCABLE LETTER OF CREDIT NO. 537 - JACK HICKEY, INC.
<br />(_KENSINGTON FARMS EAST, SECTION V, PART II)
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Michael P. Meeks, Director,
<br />Division of Engineering and Mr. Melvin B. Humphrey, Bureau of
<br />Design and Construction, have submitted a Letter of Credit from
<br />Jack Hickey, Inc., South Bend, Indiana, on behalf of the City of
<br />South Bend, Indiana, as a guarantee to complete construction of
<br />all public improvements stated in said letter within the limits
<br />of Section Five (V), Part II Kensington Farms East Subdivision.
<br />Mr. Meeks and Mr. Humphrey stated that this acceptance will allow
<br />the plat dedication to proceed and building construction prior to
<br />the completion of the public improvements required by the
<br />developer.
<br />It was noted that the Irrevocable Letter of Credit No. 537 was
<br />issued by the Valley American Bank, P.O. Box 328, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, and is in the amount of $92,000.00. The Letter of
<br />Credit indicated that it is given to warrant the guarantee and
<br />completion of public improvements, including but not limited to
<br />water, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, curbs, streets, sidewalks
<br />and street lighting in Section V, Part II, Kensington Farms East.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq
<br />and carried, the Letter of Credit as submitted was accepted and
<br />approved.
<br />REQUEST TO CLOSE THE 600 BLOCK OF EAST ECKMAN FOR BLOCK PARTY -
<br />MAY 22, 1988 - REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. T. Mark Fay, 622 E. Eckman Street,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, advised that the neighbors in the 600 block
<br />of East Eckman Street seek permission to close the street on May
<br />22, 1988 from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. for a neighborhood block
<br />party. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau
<br />of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic
<br />Division for review and recommendation.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST OF YELLOW CAB COMPANY FOR A TAXICAB STAND IN THE
<br />500 BLOCK OF WEST SOUTH STREET EAST OF THE ENTRANCE TO THE
<br />COVELESKI BASEBALL STADIUM
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and
<br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to
<br />the Board on March 28, 1988 and recommend approval at this time.
<br />Mr. Leszczynski further advised that the Bureau of Traffic and
<br />Lighting has indicated that the area to be approved is two (2)
<br />spaces on West South Street on the north side of the street
<br />approximately across from the Union Station. Therefore, upon a
<br />motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and
<br />carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request
<br />approved.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST OF WEST SIDE MEMORIAL COMMITTEE TO CONDUCT ANNUAL
<br />MEMORIAL DAY PARADE - MAY 30, 1988
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the necessary City departments and
<br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to
<br />the Board on April 25, 1988 and recommend approval. Therefore,
<br />upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski
<br />and carried, the recommendation as submitted was accepted and the
<br />request approved.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CLOSE PORTION OF EAST WAYNE STREET FOR BLOCK
<br />PARTY - MAY 22, 1988
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised the Board that the Bureau of Traffic and
<br />Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed
