REGULAR MEETING MAY 9, 1988 FM 1 1 1 FILING OF APPLICATION FOR BIDDER UALIFICATION/CERTIFICATION Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the following application for bidder qualification/ certification was accepted for filing and referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation: 1. Watcon, Inc. 2215 South Main Street South Bend, Indiana APPROVE APPLICATIONS FOR BIDDER QUALIFICATION/CERTIFICATION Mr. Jimmy L. Scott, EEO Officer for the City of South Bend, advised the Board that he has reviewed the below listed applicants for bidder qualification and/or certification and after complete review, found that all requirements of the South Bend Affirmative Action ordinance have been met. He therefore recommends that the following twelve (12) applicants be qualified for City bidding and the following one (1) applicant be certified as a Minority owned business: QUALIFIED AS CITY BIDDERS: 1. Rieth-Riley 2. Walsh & Kelly, Inc. 3. Rockwell International Corporation 4. Reese and Sons Construction 5. Michiana Paving & Excavating 6. Uniontown Plant 7. Illinois Lawn Equipment, Inc. 8. Warsaw Chemical Company, Inc. 9. United States Pipe and Foundry Company 10. Thompson -Hayward Chemical Company 11. Northwestern National Life Insurance Company 12. Reese and Sons Construction CERTIFIED AS MINORITY OWNED BUSINESS: 1. Reese and Sons Construction Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the recommendation as submitted was accepted and the applications approved. REJECT PROPOSALS PREVIOUS READVERTISE FOR NEW PROPO DEPARTMENT RESCUE UNIT ,Y RECEIVED ALS - LEASE JD APPROVE FI UEST TO CING - FIRE Ms. Katherine Humphreys, Director, Administration and Finance, recommended to the Board that the two (2) Proposals received on May 2, 1988 for the lease purchase financing of a Fire Department Rescue Unit be rejected and that the Board readvertise for new Proposals. She stated that it was felt that the best interest rate was not received. Therefore, upon a motion made by Ms. Humphreys, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the Proposals received on May 2, 1988 were rejected and the request to advertise for the receipt of new Proposals was approved.
