70 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 21, 1988 <br />seventy (70) children attended this event. Therefore, she is <br />requesting that Riverside Drive, between California and Golden be <br />closed for this event to assure the safety of the children <br />attending the hunt. Submitted with Ms. Kenahan's letter was a <br />letter from 1st District Councilman Stephen Luecke advising that <br />he supports this request. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the request <br />was referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for <br />review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 240 PAGIN STREET - <br />REFERRED <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of a letter <br />from Eddie and Grace Ivory, 1302 West Linden Avenue, South Bend, <br />Indiana, advising that they are interested in purchasing the <br />City -owned lot at 240 Pagin Street. Therefore, upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, <br />the request was referred to the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus in order that a determination could be made whether the <br />City need retain this property. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF <br />ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq, Director, Department of Code <br />Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of <br />approximately twenty (20) abandoned vehicles, which are being <br />stored at Steve & Gene's Auto & Truck Salvage and Repair, 3109 <br />South Gertrude Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that <br />all vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, <br />identification checks had been run for auto theft and the owners <br />and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the above request was <br />approved and a date of April 4, 1988 was established for the <br />receiving and opening of sealed bids. <br />FILING OF APPLICATIONS FOR BIDDER QUALIFICATION/CERTIFICATION <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the following applications for bidder qualification/ <br />certification were accepted for filing and referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation: <br />1. E & H Utility Sales <br />79 West U.S. Highway 6 <br />Valparaiso, Indiana 46383 <br />2. Etna Supply Company <br />529 32nd Street, S.E. <br />Wyoming, MI <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the following four (4) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />1. NEW INSTALLATION, SCHOOL SPEED LIMIT 25 WHEN CHILDREN <br />PRESENT - 100-200 S. Greenlawn & 100-300 N. Greenlawn <br />(Trinity School & McKinley School). <br />2. NEW INSTALLATION, 15 MINUTE LOADING ZONE - 100 W. Marion <br />lst parking spot, east of Main 22'. (Mar -Main Apartments) <br />3. NEW INSTALLATION, NO PARKING - East side of Cushing, <br />approximately 200' at entrance of Edith Brown <br />School. (Greater visibility at school crossing). <br />1 <br />Fj <br />1 <br />
