REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 21, 1988 <br />1988. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. <br />DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate <br />City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS TO CONDUCT ANNUAL TOOTSIE ROLL <br />SALES - MAY 13-15, 1988 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Arthur R. Leinen, Chairman, St. Joe <br />Valley Knights of Columbus Councils, 815 North Michigan Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana, advised that on May 13-15, 1988 the Knights <br />of Columbus Councils of South Bend would like to hold their <br />annual "Tootsie Roll Drive." It was noted that permission is <br />requested to conduct this sale in the downtown area. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and <br />carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT OPENING DAY PARADE - STANLEY COVELESKI <br />REGIONAL BASEBALL STADIUM - APRIL 10. 1988 - REFERRED <br />Ms. Mikki Dobski, Director, Office of Community Affairs, advised <br />that Board approval is requested to hold a short parade on <br />Sunday, April 10, 1988 from 1:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. The proposed <br />route is as follows: <br />Lafayette Boulevard, south from Washington to Sample <br />Street. Proposed staging area is Washington Street <br />from Lafayette to Williams. <br />Ms. Dobski stated that the parade will consists of a marching <br />band, Sheriff's Posse horse troop, Studebaker vehicles, Gates <br />convertibles and the Clydesdale horses. <br />She further requested the following: <br />1. In preparation for the parade, that Washington <br />be closed at 12:00 noon. Lafayette could be <br />closed off as late as 12:50 p.m. <br />2. No parking on Lafayette and Washington (in the affected <br />areas) from 6:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. <br />3. A police escort to lead the parade, as well <br />as to bring the Budweiser Clydesdales to the staging <br />area from their stalls at the Studebaker Museum on <br />Lafayette and South Streets. <br />4. The street, along the parade route, be swept before and <br />after the parade. <br />5. Thirty (30) barricades be dropped off on the <br />Museum parking lot on the east side of their <br />building. <br />6. A traffic advisory around April 8th to alert the public <br />to the parking and traffic conditions expected during <br />Opening Day. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the above referred to request was referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE A PORTION OF RIVERSIDE DRIVE FOR EASTER EGG HUNT <br />- APRIL 2, 1988 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Marty Kenahan advised that on the <br />morning of Saturday, April 2, 1988 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 <br />a.m. there will be a neighborhood Easter egg hunt held in <br />Shetterly Park. Ms. Kenahan stated that last year more than <br />
