342 REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 13, 1989 The first, from Mrs. Charles Vollmer, 830 30th Street, South Bend, Indiana, requests that the parking space in front of her residence be designated as a handicapped parking space. Additionally, Ms. Amy L. York, 1208 Napier Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested that the parking space in front of her residence be designated as a handicapped parking space. Ms. York noted that she has handicapped children who attend Logan School and are picked up by JJR Vans. She noted that it is sometimes -very difficult for the van to find a place to park in order to pick-up the children. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the above referred to requests be referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND PUBLIC LIBRARY TO ERECT CANOPY THAT WILL ENCROACH ONTO PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY AT 122 WEST WAYNE STREET - REFERRED Mr. Leszczynski advised that Cole Associates, Inc., 2211 East Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, has submitted to the Board the appropriate drawings and diagrams in regards to the erection of a canopy at the South Bend Public Libary located at 122 West Wayne Street which will encroach onto the public right-of-way. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. REQUEST FOR INSTALLATION OF STOP SIGN AT CALVERT AND ROBINSON STREETS - REFERRED In a letter to the Board, Mr. Donald L. Hastings, 1638 East Calvert Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested that the City consider the installation of a stop sign at Calvert and Robinson Streets. Mr. Hastings advised the Board that there are no stop signs on Calvert Street, between Ironwood Drive and Twyckenham Street, thus allowing motorists to reach excessive speeds. He further advised that an accident occurred most recently in which a child was struck by a car. He noted that although accidents do not occur on a daily basis, they have happened before and he would appreciate whatever action it would take to slow down cars that come down Calvert. Therefore, Mr. Hastings suggested the placement of a stop sign at Calvert and Robinson Streets to slow down motorists. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the following two (2) traffic control devices were approved: 1.
