341 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />NOVEMBER 13, 1989 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:31 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 1989, by Board President John <br />E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq <br />and Ms. Katherine Humphreys present. Also present was Assistant <br />City Attorney Jenny Pitts Manier. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING, <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the minutes of the regular meeting of the Board held <br />on November 6, 1989, were approved. <br />APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - ST. JOSEPH/WAYNE STREET PARKING <br />GARAGE — PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY PROJECT <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that in accordance with the bid awarded <br />on October 23, 1989, to Murdock & Sons Construction, Inc., 1320 <br />South Franklin Street, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of <br />$163,000.00 for the above referred to project, a Contract in said <br />amount was being submitted for Board approval. Upon a motion <br />made by Ms. Humphreys, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the <br />Contract was approved and the appropriate Insurance, Performance <br />Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond as submitted were <br />filed. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF CI <br />AWNING OF SOUTH BEND TO <br />TALL CANOPY AT <br />111 WEST WAYNE STREET (EHNINGER FLORIST) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request which was <br />submitted to the Board on September 18, 1989, and approval is <br />recommended. Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the <br />recommendation be accepted and the request be approved. Ms. <br />Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE INDEMNIFICATION AND HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT - CITY AND <br />HOLLADAY PROPERTY MANAGEMENT <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that an Indemnification and Hold Harmless <br />Agreement between the City of South Bend and Holladay Property <br />Management, owner of real estate and premises known as One <br />Michiana Square located at 100 East Wayne Street, was submitted <br />for Board approval. <br />The Agreement indicates that the City wishes to utilize the lobby <br />of One Michiana Square on November 18, 1989, for the purpose of <br />allowing children to visit with Santa in conjunction with the <br />Holiday Parade. In consideration of the use of the lobby of One <br />Michiana Square, the City agrees to hold Holladay Property <br />Management free and harmless from any liability resulting from <br />the City's occupation and use of the lobby. Upon a motion made <br />by Ms. Humphreys, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the <br />Agreement as submitted was approved. <br />UEST TO ADVER'. <br />INFORMATION PROCESSING SYSTEM <br />THE RECEIPT 0 <br />,S - AUTOMATED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Katherine Humphreys, Director, <br />Administration and Finance, requested that the Board advertise <br />for the receipt of bids for the City's new computer system. Upon <br />a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and <br />carried, the request was approved. <br />REQUESTS FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACES AT <br />1. 830 30TH STREET <br />2. 1208 NAPIER STREET - REFERRED <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of two (2) <br />requests for designated handicapped parking spaces. <br />
