299 <br />REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 2, 1989 <br />1. That the request of the Friends of the Studebaker <br />Corridor to use and occupy the City -owned property commonly known <br />as the Studebaker Museum parking lot and Newman Center for the <br />purpose of conducting a petition drive shall be and hereby is <br />approved for the following dates and during the following times: <br />Friday, October 6, 1989 - 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. <br />Saturday, October 7, 1989 - 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. <br />2. That the approval of said occupancy is conditioned upon <br />receipt by the Board of Public Works for the City of South Bend <br />of a Certificate of Insurance in the amount of $1,000,000.00 <br />naming the City of South Bend as additional insured and covering <br />the activities of the Friends of the Studebaker Corridor at both <br />the Studebaker Museum parking lot and Newman Center premises. <br />3. Parmerlee, Clerk <br />Board of Public Works <br />In response to questions from the news media, Ms. Humphreys noted <br />that the Friends of the Studebaker Corridor is chaired by Mr. <br />Jerry Hammes and Mr. Les Fox. <br />APPROVE FIRST MODIFICATION OF LOAN AGREEMENT AND REVISION OF NOTE <br />AGREEMENT - CONTAINER SERVICE CORPORATION <br />Ms. Betsy Harriman, Office of Community Development, advised that <br />the First Modification of Loan Agreement, between Container <br />Service Corporation and the City of South Bend, indicates a <br />change in the payment schedule of the loan. Also, the Revision <br />of Note Agreement reflects this change as well. She noted that <br />payment schedule revision is from yearly payments to monthly <br />payments for a period of one (1) year. Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq <br />made a motion that the documents as submitted be approved and <br />executed. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BID - ASBESTOS ABATEMENT PROJECT - WASTEWATER TREATMENT <br />PLANT <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that at this time it is being recommended <br />that the lowest aggregate bid submitted by Specialty Systems of <br />Illinois, 16810 South Lathrop Avenue, Harvey, Illinois, in the <br />amount of $249,681.00 for Contract Al ($153,466.00) and Contract <br />A2 ($96,215.00) be awarded contingent upon submission of an <br />acceptable Performance Bond and Certificate of Insurance. It is <br />noted that bids for this project were opened by the Board on <br />September 11, 1989. <br />Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the recommendation be <br />accepted. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />
