Mr. Craft submitted with the
request a drawing of the frame as well as structure details.
Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq
and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City
departments and bureaus for review and recommendation
REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY - LOT #40 JEWELWOOD
ADDITION - REFERRED
In a letter to the Board, Mr. Robert Galloway, 20502 Johnson
Road, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to purchase
City -owned property known as Lot #40 of Jewelwood Addition,
Section 35-37-2E. Mr. Galloway noted that the purchase of this
property is needed for use as an access road to Katie Lane
Subdivision. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,
seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred
to the appropriate City departments and bureaus in order that a
determination can be made whether the City need retain this
property.
AWARD BID - ONE (1) INDUSTRIAL LOADER/BACKHOE WITH 500 FOOT POUND
HYDRAULIC BREAKER PERMANENTLY MOUNTED ON THE MACHINE
Mr. Robert Kruszynski, Manager, Department of Sanitation, advised
that he has reviewed the three (3) bids received on July 17, 1989
for the above referred to equipment and at this time is
recommending that the bid of MacDonald Machinery, 52401 Ralph
Jones Drive, in the amount of $52,750.00 be awarded.
Mr. Kruszynski noted that the bid submitted by Rudd Equipment was
in the amount of $50,119.900 and the bid submitted by A.H. Choitz
was in the amount of $58,000.00. Mr. Kruszynski noted that the
low bid submitted by Rudd Equipment is not acceptable for two (2)
reasons as follows:
1. Rudd Equipment cannot show the City an operational
vehicle.
2. Rudd does not have a local parts and service facility as
specified under bid qualifications.
Mr. Kruszynski further noted that this equipment will be used by
the Bureau of Sewers construction crews.
Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the recommendation be accepted
and the bid of MacDonald Machinery be accepted and awarded. Mrs.
DeClercq seconded the motion which carried.
Mr. Leszczynski noted that on June 2, 1989, Mr. Ralph Johnson,
734 North Cushing Street, South Bend, Indiana, submitted to the
Board a Petition signed by individuals supporting slant parking
along Michigan Street from Western to Colfax. At that time, the
Petition was referred to the appropriate City departments and
bureaus for review and recommendation.
At this time, Mr. Leszczynski advised that that recommendations
received indicate that the parking should not be changed as
suggested.
Mr. Leszczynski further advised that Mr. Michael P. Meeks,
Director, Division of Engineering, noted that accident reports do
not indicate an excessive amount of traffic accidents per year
