REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 28, 1989 <br />257 <br />LJ <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:36 a.m. on Monday, August 28, 1989 by Board President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq and <br />Ms. Katherine Humphreys present. Also present was Assistant City <br />Attorney Jenny Pitts-Manier. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the minutes of the Special meeting of the Board held <br />on August 16, 1989, and the minutes of the regular meeting of the <br />Board held on August 21, 1989 were approved. <br />-EL TO ALLOW PARKING AROUND THE TEMPLE FOR <br />HOLY_ DAYSERVICES - SEPTEMBER 29-30, 1989 & OCTOBER 8-9. 1989 - <br />REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Morton Ziker, President, Temple <br />Beth -El, 305 West Madison Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested <br />that parking be allowed on both sides of the Temple block on West <br />Madison Street and North Lafayette Boulevard for Holy Day <br />services as follows: <br />Friday, September 29, 1989 <br />Saturday, September 30, 1989 <br />Sunday, October 8, 1989 <br />Monday, October 9, 1989 <br />Mr. Ziker also noted that since <br />vandalism may well increase, he <br />Department being very visible i <br />times. <br />n <br />8:15 p.m. <br />9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. <br />8:15 p.m. <br />9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. <br />this is also the time when <br />would appreciate the Police <br />that area during the above <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />and carried, the above request was referred to <br />Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department <br />for review and recommendation. <br />ST OF 1989 CROP COMM] <br />by Ms. Humphreys <br />the Bureau of <br />Traffic Division <br />TO CONDUCT <br />ANNUAL CROP WALK - OCTOBER 8, 1989 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Diane Booher, Arrangements Chair, <br />1989 CROP Committee, advised that on behalf of the 1989 CROP <br />Committee of St. Joseph County, she would like to request <br />permission to conduct the annual CROP Walk on October 8, 1989 <br />from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Submitted with the request was a <br />route which will be utilized for the Walk which begins and ends <br />at St. Joseph High School at Michigan and Angela Boulevard. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF POLICE DEPARTMENT TO CONDUCT AUCTION OF <br />UNCLAIMED BICYCLES AND OTHER UNCLAIMED PROPERTY - OCTOBER 14 <br />Police Chief Ronald G. Marciniak requested permission to dispose <br />of unclaimed bicycles and other unclaimed property at a public <br />auction to be held on October 14, 1989 from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 <br />p.m or until all items are sold. Chief Marciniak advised that <br />this is the second auction of the year and will be held rain or <br />shine in the Street Department garage at the rear of the <br />station. Chief Marciniak noted that Mr. Karl Kaser of Kaser's <br />Auction Service will conduct the auction. A partial list of <br />items to be sold are bicycles, television sets, stereo gear, <br />jewelry, lawnmowers, V.C.R.'s, moped's, tools and miscellaneous <br />items. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. <br />Humphreys and carried, the request was approved and the proper <br />advertising was authorized. <br />
