<br />APPROVE_ SETTLEMENT AND RELEASE OF CLAIMS - SELLAND LIVESTOCK,
<br />INC.
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that pursuant to a settlement of a claim
<br />in regards to damage done on February 15, 1989 to City Bureau of
<br />Traffic & Lighting equipment, the Great -West Casualty Company, on
<br />behalf of their insured, Selland Livestock, Inc., has submitted
<br />an offer of settlement in the amount of $1,529.22 along with the
<br />appropriate Release of All Claims form for execution.
<br />Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the settlement be
<br />accepted and the Release form be approved and executed. Mrs.
<br />DeClercq seconded the motion which carried.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF
<br />ABANDONED VEHICLES
<br />Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq, Director, Department of Code
<br />Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of
<br />approximately eighteen (18) abandoned vehicles, which are being
<br />stored at Super Auto Salvage Corporation located at 3300 South
<br />Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles
<br />have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification
<br />checks had been run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders
<br />notified. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski and carried, the above request was approved and a
<br />date of August 14, 1989 was established for the receiving and
<br />opening of sealed bids.
<br />OF FIRST AME ZION CHURCH TO CLOSE CAMPEAU STREET, AT
<br />989 - REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Wendell Preston, Chairman of Mens
<br />Day Committee, First AME Zion Church, 801 N. Eddy, South Bend,
<br />Indiana requested permission to close Campeau Street, at Eddy
<br />Street from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on August 26-27, 1989, for
<br />the First AME Zion Church fun fair bazaar. Upon a motion made by
<br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the
<br />request was referred to the appropriate City departments and
<br />bureaus for review and recommendation.
<br />iT TO CLOSE SOUTH STREET, BETWEEN SUNNYSIDE AND LONGFELLOW
<br />FOR NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - AUGUST 13, 1989 - REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. M.C. Samuels -Wade, 1330 South
<br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to close South
<br />Street, between Sunnyside and Longfellow from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00
<br />p.m. on August 12, 1989, with a rain date of August 13, 1989, for
<br />a neighborhood block party. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request
<br />was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police
<br />Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST OF SAINT JOSEPH'S MEDICAL CENTER TO CONDUCT 9TH ANNUAL
<br />SPORTSMED 10K ROAD RACE, 1 MILE FUN RUN AND 4K WALK - SEPTEMBER
<br />17, 1989 - REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Mary Joe Elias, Administrator,
<br />Cardiopulmonary Resources and Mr. Ron Craker, Race Director,
<br />Sportsmed 10K, Saint Joseph's Medical Center, requested
<br />permission to conduct the 9th Annual Sportsmed 10K Road Race on
<br />Sunday, September 17, 1989 as well as the 1 Mile Fun Run and the
<br />non-competitive 4K Walk which are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
<br />and 2:05 p.m. respectively. Submitted with the request were the
<br />appropriate routes for these events.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq
<br />and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City
<br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation.
