20 <br />REGULAR MEETING JULY 17, 1989 <br />shall be removed from the inventory of the City of South Bend. <br />Adopted this 17th day of July, 1989. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />s/John E. Parmerlee, Clerk <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF PROPOSALS - <br />EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM SERVICES <br />Ms. C.J. Cartwright, Safety & Risk Manager, requested that the <br />Board advertise for the receipt of Proposals for Employee <br />Assistance Program Services. Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a <br />motion that the request be approved. Mr. Leszczynski seconded <br />the motion which carried. <br />REQUEST TO ENCROACH ONTO PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY AT 601 SOUTH OLIVE <br />STREET - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Kenneth & Joyce Clearwater, Howard Park <br />Hardware, 613 East Jefferson Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised <br />that they are trying to obtain financing to purchase Gene's Dry <br />Goods Store at 601 South Olive Street, South Bend, Indiana. <br />After having a survey made of the property, it was discovered <br />that they were not able to get clear title since there is six <br />inches (611) extended onto City property. The building at 601 <br />South Olive Street was built in 1924 and this is the first survey <br />conducted. Therefore, they requested the City's help in <br />obtaining this property and would like the City to give them the <br />right to obtain a clear title by giving up or letting them <br />purchase the six inches (611) of City property. Mrs. DeClercq <br />made a motion that the above request be referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />APPROVE REOUEST OF FOREST SIGN & DISPLAY. INC. TO ERECT SIGN THAT <br />WILL ENCROACH INTO PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the various City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request which was <br />submitted to the Board on June 26, 1989, and approval is <br />recommended. It was noted that approval is recommended for a <br />thirty (30) day period only. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a <br />motion that the recommendations be accepted and the request <br />approved. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CLOSE PARKOVASH. FROM IROOUOIS TO LAFAYETTE. <br />FOR NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - JULY 22, 1989 <br />Mr. Paul Piller, 331 Parkovash, South Bend, Indiana, submitted an <br />Application For Use of And Blocking Of Access To Public <br />Right -Of -Way For A Party Or Similar Event, requesting that the <br />300 & 400 blocks of Parkovash, from Iroquois to Lafayette be <br />closed on Saturday, July 22, 1989 from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. <br />for a neighborhood block party. Mr. Leszczynski noted that the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus have reviewed this <br />request and approval is recommended. Therefore, upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, <br />the request was approved. <br />
