m <br />REGULAR MEETING JULY 10, 1989 <br />Humphreys and carried, the above request was approved and a date <br />of July 24, 1989, was established for the receiving of sealed <br />bids. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - LEAF <br />VACUUMS FOR OPERATION RELEAF <br />Mr. John Leszczynski, Director, Department of Public Works, <br />requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for <br />twelve (12) leaf vacuums for the City of South Bend Operation <br />Releaf. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the <br />request to advertise be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the <br />motion which carried. <br />REQUESTS FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACES - REFERRED: <br />- 1217 NORTH BLAINE <br />- 1222 NORTH BLAINE <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Lola Frye, 1217 North Blaine <br />Avenue, South Bend, advised that she is handicapped and because <br />of numerous vehicles parking on her street, is unable to park in <br />front of her home. Therefore, Ms. Frye requested that the <br />parking space in front of her residence be designated as a <br />handicapped parking space. <br />Additionally, in a letter to the Board, Ms. Hazel Druley, 1222 <br />North Blaine Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that she is <br />also handicapped and has other individuals who pick her up for <br />various matters and they are unable to park in front of her <br />residence because of other residents utilizing available parking <br />spaces. Ms. Druley noted that she does not drive but would like <br />the space in front of her home designated as a handicapped <br />parking space so the individuals who take her around will have a <br />place to park when they pick her up. <br />Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the above two (2) requests be <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. <br />Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUEST OF CITY AWNING TO ERECT CANOPY AT EDWARDO'S RESTAURANT AT <br />THE CORNER OF WAYNE AND MICHIGAN STREETS - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. H. Craft, Sales Representative, <br />City Awning of South Bend, Indiana, 1835 South Franklin Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to erect a canopy at <br />the Edwardo's Restaurant located on the corner of Wayne and <br />Michigan Streets. Mr. Craft submitted with his request a drawing <br />of the canopy indicating dimensions and type of canopy to be <br />erected. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be <br />referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for <br />review and recommendation. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion <br />which carried. <br />ROAST - AUGUST 19, 1989 - REFERRED <br />Mr. Todd Ullery, Manager/Owner, Parkview Tavern Corporation, 515 <br />East Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, submitted an <br />Application For Use Of And Blocking Of Access To Public <br />Right -Of -Way For A Party Or Similar Event which indicated that <br />the Parkview Tavern would like to have closed the alley between <br />the tavern and Balloon's & More Shop from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 <br />p.m. on Saturday, August 19, 1989 in conjunction with their <br />annual hog roast. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred <br />to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. <br />
