170 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 12, 1989 <br />Ms. Dobski advised that they will do their best to only barricade <br />as many days as absolutely necessary to include but not exceed: <br />- Michigan Street Tuesday, June 27th - Monday, July 3rd <br />- All east/west streets - Saturday, July 1st and Sunday, <br />July 2nd. <br />Additionally, Ms. Dobski requested that both Municipal Parking <br />Facilities be open to the public at a rate of $1.00 per day on <br />July 1st and 2nd. <br />Ms. Dobski additionally advised that the Muscular Dystrophy <br />Association has requested use of Washington Street, between <br />Michigan and Main, to hold their annual bed race. <br />Also, permission is requested to conduct the bike race utilizing <br />the same route as in the past from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on July <br />1, 1989. <br />Permission is also requested to conduct a 4-Mile Race and 1.1 <br />Mile Fun Run beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 2, 1989 <br />utilizing the route submitted with the request. <br />The Ethnic Festival Parade will be on July 1, 1989 from 10:00 <br />a.m. until 12:00 noon with set-up in school field. The parade <br />will proceed down Eddy Street to East Jefferson, East Jefferson <br />west to Columbia and disbanding at block six. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the request for $1.00 parking rate at both parking <br />garages in conjunction with the Ethnic Festival was approved and <br />all other requests as outlined above were referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. <br />APPROVE ETHNIC FESTIVAL BOOTH APPLICATIONS <br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Ms. Katherine Humphreys, Director, <br />Administration and Finance, advised that she has reviewed <br />additional booth applications for the Ethnic Festival and <br />recommends that they be approved. Therefore, the total <br />applications submitted to date for which approval is requested <br />are: <br />Food 52 <br />Craft 44 <br />Display 15 <br />Children's Activities 6 <br />TOTAL: <br />117 <br />Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the additional applications be <br />approved. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion and it carried. <br />AWARD BID - ONE (1) 31000## GVW CAB & CHASSIS <br />Mr. Robert Kruszynski, Manager, Department of Sanitation, advised <br />that after reviewing the bids received on May 30, 1989, for the <br />above referred to equipment, he is recommending that the low base <br />bid of Shamrock Ford Truck Sales, Inc., 4707 West Western Avenue, <br />South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $31.362.00 plus an <br />additional $505.00 for a tilt hood on the cab for a total bid of <br />$31,867.00 be awarded. Mr. Kruszynski advised that this unit <br />will be used by the Bureau of Sewers construction and maintenance <br />crews. Therefore, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the <br />recommendation be accepted and the bid awarded. Mrs. DeClercq <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />1 <br />
