125 REGULAR MEETING MAY 1, 1989 cities in St. Joseph County. The ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. on the courthouse steps. Therefore, it is requested that parking be prohibited by civilian vehicles on both sides of the 100 block of South Main Street so that police vehicles can park at both curb lines during the ceremony. Also, police vehicles will park on the south curb line area of the 200 block of West Washington Street during the ceremony. The squad cars lining the street area will all have their red lights on during the ceremony in a tribute to the deceased officers. Also, permission is requested to fire a volley of shots at the end of the ceremony. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request as outlined above was approved. UEST OF POTA SOCIETY, INC. FOR PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN CONJUNCTION WITH ZOOFEST - JUNE 10-11 1989 - REFERRED In a letter to the Board, Mr. Barry Wertz, Potawatomi Zoological Society, Inc., 500 South Greenlawn, P.O. Box 1764, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the Society is planning its annual Zoofest on June 10-11, 1989. In connection with this event, it is requested that the zoo drive be designated one-way during this time to alleviate traffic problems. ATOMI ZOOLOGIC. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. REQUEST OF TRANSPO TO RENAME MAIN/JEFFERSON STREET AS "TRANSPO WAY" FOR ONE DAY - MAY 17, 1989 - REFERRED Ms. Mary Beth McAdams, Marketing & Planning Manager, South Bend Public Transportation Corporation, 901 East Northside Boulevard, P.O. Box 1437, South Bend, Indiana, advised that in conjunction with National Transportation Week scheduled for May 14-20, 1989, TRANSPO is planning a special Transit Day on May 17, 1989. In conjunction with the activities scheduled for the day, TRANSPO would like to include a street -renaming at the South Bend transfer center. Therefore, TRANSPO requests a one (1) day street renaming at Main and Jefferson Streets to "Transpo Way." Ms. McAdams further advised that TRANSPO will conduct a press conference at the South Bend transfer center at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17th and they wish to perform the renaming at that time. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. REQUEST OF WEST SIDE MEMORIAL COMMITTEE TO CONDUCT MEMORIAL DAY PARADE - MAY 29, 1989 - REFERRED In a letter to the Board, Ms. Adeline Waslicki-Jaskowiak, on behalf of the West Side Memorial Committee, requested permission to conduct the annual Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 29, 1989. The parade will assemble at 8:00 a.m. at Olive and Ford Streets, will move out at 8:30 a.m., proceed west on Ford Street past Pierre Navarre School and disband at Summit Drive. The time of the parade from start to finish will be approximately one and one-half (1 1/2) hours. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation.
