NZE <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 27, 1989 <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY, PULASKI UNIT 357, <br />TO CONDUCT POPPY SALES - MAY 5-6, 1989 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request which was <br />submitted to the Board on March 20, 1989, and approval is <br />recommended at this time. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. <br />DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the <br />recommendation was accepted and the request approved. <br />APPROVE TEMPORARY STREET NAME CHANGES IN OBSERVANCE OF DYNGUS DAY <br />AND SOLIDARITY DAY - MARCH 27, 1989 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mayor Joseph E. Kernan has requested <br />the following temporary street name changes in observance of <br />Dyngus Day and Solidarity Day, Monday, March 27, 1989: <br />- Corner of Ford and Warren, to be named <br />Dyngus Boulevard <br />Corner of Hill and South Bend Avenue, to be named <br />Solidarity Avenue <br />- Corner of Colfax and Elm, to be named Solidarity Avenue <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the request was approved. <br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT WORLD'S LARGEST GARAGE SALE AT COLFAX PARKING <br />GARAGE - JUNE 10, 1989 - REFERRED <br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Ms. Denielle Baldwin, Office of <br />Community Affairs, requested permission to hold the 14th Annual <br />World's Largest Garage Sale on Saturday, June 10, 1989 at the <br />Colfax Parking Garage. Ms. Baldwin also requested standard <br />traffic controls, crowd control and paramedic on -call coverage. <br />Additionally, permission to use the landscaped lot just south of <br />the parking garage is also requested. Therefore, upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, <br />the request was referred to the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />INQUIRY INTO THE POSSIBILITY OF CLOSING A SECTION OF SOUTH CHAPIN <br />STREET, BETWEEN DUBAIL AND BRUCE, FOR ESTATE AUCTION - APRIL 29, <br />1989 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mrs. Becky J. Papai, 2305 Midway Drive, <br />Niles, Michigan, inquired of the Board about the possibility of <br />blocking a section of South Chapin Street, between Dubail Street <br />and Bruce Street, for an estate auction to be held on Saturday, <br />April 29, 1989 beginning at 9:00 a.m. The auction will be held <br />at 1719 South Chapin Street. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq, and carried, the inquiry <br />was referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for <br />review and recommendation. <br />-ROUTE TRAFFIC IN <br />CONJUNCTION WITH STUDEBAKER FESTIVAL - MAY 5-7, 1989 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Thomas E. Brubaker, Executive <br />Director, Studebaker National Museum, 120 South St. Joseph <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that on the weekend of May <br />5, 6 and 7, 1989, the Studebaker National Museum will present the <br />Studebaker Festival in downtown South Bend. The activities will <br />take place around the museum at 525 South Main Street. The <br />events will include a car show, a car corral and the "Studebaker <br />Indiana" Swap Meet held at Newman & Altman at 405 West Sample <br />Street. <br />
