REGULAR MEETING DECFMBER 10, 1990 <br />again this year planning to conduct a "March for Life" on the <br />Sunday closest to the anniversary date of the Court decision <br />legalizing abortion. This January the date will be January 20, <br />1991. Mr. Leinen stated that they would like to assemble in the <br />parking lot of the Council #553 at 815 North Michigan Street at <br />1:30 P.M. The March would then proceed south on Michigan to <br />Navarre Street then west on Navarre to Main Street then south on <br />Main Street to Wayne Street then west on Wayne Street to St. <br />Patrick's Church on Taylor Street. At St. Patrick's they will <br />have an interfaith service recalling this sad event. Marchers <br />will then make their way back to 815 North Michigan Street <br />independently. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request be referred to the <br />appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUEST FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE - 306 SOUTH <br />ILLINOIS - REFERRED <br />Mrs. Eddie Johnson, 306 South Illinois, South Bend, Indiana, <br />requested that the parking space in front of her residence be <br />designated as a handicapped parking space. Mr. Leszczynski made <br />a motion that the request be referred to the appropriate City <br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. Mrs. <br />DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />FILING OF PETITION FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF RESTRICTED RESIDENTIAL <br />PARKING ZONE - 900 BLOCK SOUTH TWYCKENHAM <br />Ms. Belinda Owens, 922 South Twyckenham Drive, South Bend, <br />Indiana, submitted to the Board a Petition for the Establishment <br />of a Restricted Residential Parking Zone in the 900 block of <br />South Twyckenham Drive. Ms. Owens noted that residents of the <br />area have difficulty parking in front of their houses due to <br />spaces being occupied by members of the Electrical Apprenticeship <br />and Training Committee who meet at 913 South Twyckenham from 5:45 <br />p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the Petition be referred to <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting in order that the appropriate <br />traffic study of the area can be conducted. Mrs. DeClercq <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />FILING OF APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND <br />SETTING OF PUBLIC HEARING DATE - MISHAWAKA CAB INC. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that submitted to the Board was an <br />Application for Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity <br />for the Operation of Taxicabs as submitted by the Mishawaka Cab, <br />Inc., 58861 State Road 331, Mishawaka, Indiana. Mr. Leszczynski <br />further advised that pursuant to licensing ordinance <br />requirements, the application as submitted today will be accepted <br />for filing and a Public Hearing date of January 7, 1991 will be <br />set. Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the application <br />as submitted be filed and the hearing date set. Ms. Humphreys <br />seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE AND/OR RELEASE CONTRACTQRS AND EXCAVATION BONDS <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Engineering Department has <br />recommended that the Excavation Bond for Edward J. White, 1011 <br />South Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana, be released effective <br />December 3, 1991 and that the Bond of Contractor for Union <br />Station Properties be approved effective December 10, 1990. Mrs. <br />DeClercq made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and <br />the bonds be approved and/or released as indicated above. Ms. <br />Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />
