• <br />REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 26, 1990 <br />time, the date of those festivities has been changed to Sunday, <br />December 23, 1990 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in order to coordinate with <br />the Park Avenue Riverside Drive Candlelight Walks. Ms. Gatto <br />noted that she has notified the'Park Department. <br />Ms. Gatto further noted that many families will be participating <br />in the candle lighting of their sidewalks at 7:00 p.m., enjoying <br />strolling Christmas carolers, partaking of horse drawn sleigh <br />rides between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. with Santa being in Triangle <br />Park beginning at 8:00 p.m. <br />Therefore, it is requested that Sherman & Vassar be barricaded at <br />Portage and Sherman at Vassar since children and families will be <br />boarding for their sleigh rides on the corner of Vassar and <br />Sherman. <br />Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the request to conduct <br />candlelight walks, carriages rides and to close the above named <br />streets be referred to the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus for review and recommendation. Ms. Humphreys seconded <br />the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BID AND APPROVE REQUEST TO READVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF <br />BIDS - DE-ICING MATERIALS <br />Mr. Bill Penn, Director, Division of Transportation, recommended <br />that the Board reject all bids received on November 13, 1990 for <br />the purchase of approximately 12,000 tons of bulk sodium chloride <br />as the prices received were over budget. He also requested that <br />the Board readvertise for the receipt of new bids for this item. <br />Additionally, Mr. Penn recommended that the Board accept and <br />award the bid submitted by The Levy Company, P.O. Box 540, <br />Portage, Indiana, for approximately 5,000 tons of calcium <br />chloride slag sand at their quoted price of $14.45 per ton <br />delivered. <br />Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the recommendation to <br />reject bids received for bulk sodium chloride and to readvertise <br />for bids for this product and the recommendation to award the bid <br />of The Levy Company for calcium chloride slag sand be approved. <br />Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BID - ONE (1) 5TH WHEEL MOUNTED GOOSENECK AUTOWAGON - FIRE <br />DEPARTMENT <br />In a letter to the Board, Fire Chief Luther Taylor recommended <br />that the Board award the bid of Wells Cargo, Inc., P.O. Box 728, <br />1503 West McNaughton, Elkhart, Indiana, in the amount of <br />$18,551.00 for one (1) 5th Wheel Mounted Gooseneck Autowagon. <br />Chief Taylor stated that the Department is comfortable with <br />having received only one (1) bid for this equipment and it is <br />their belief that this bid is competitive. Therefore, Ms. <br />Humphreys made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and <br />the bid be awarded. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />TITLE SHEET - PORTAGE ROAD UTILITIES <br />ON <br />SANITARY SEWER/WATER MAIN <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Title Sheet for the above <br />referred to project was being presented at this time for <br />execution. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Ms. Humphreys and carried, the above referred to Title Sheet was <br />approved and signed. <br />APPROVE CONTRACTORS BONDS <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Division of Engineering has <br />1 <br />
