327 <br />REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 8, 1990 <br />Board reject all bids received as it will be necessary to revise <br />the specifications. Ms. Dabrowiak also requested that the Board <br />re -advertise for the receipt of bids for these copy machines <br />based on the revised specifications. Mr. John Leisenring, Deputy <br />City Controller, informed the Board that the specifications for <br />these copy machines will be downgraded and new bids will be <br />requested. <br />Therefore, Ms. Humphreys made a motion that the recommendation to <br />reject the bids received and the request to re -advertise for the <br />receipt of new bids based on revised specifications be approved. <br />Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BID - WEST WASHINGTON DEVELOPMENT AREA ASBESTOS ABATEMENT <br />1243 WEST WASHINGTON STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board is in receipt of a letter <br />of recommendation from Mr. Kenneth P. Herceg, Ken Herceg & <br />Associates, Inc., 425 North Michigan Street, Suite 320, South <br />Bend, Indiana, Consultants on this project, recommending that <br />bids be awarded for asbestos abatement at 1234-36 West Washington <br />and 1243 West Washington Street. Mr. Leszczynski noted however <br />that due to various circumstances, an award for the asbestos <br />abatement at only 1243 West Washington Street will be considered <br />at this time. It is noted that bids for this project were opened <br />by the Board on September 24, 1990. <br />Mr. Herceg recommended that the low bid of VLS Insulating <br />Company, Inc., 2104 North Lynn Street, Mishawaka, Indiana, in the <br />amount of $2,950.00, be awarded for asbestos removal at 1243 West <br />Washington Street. <br />Therefore, Ms. Humphreys made a motion that the recommendation be <br />accepted and the bid of VLS Insulating Company, Inc., be <br />awarded. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF FIRE DEPARTMENT TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT <br />OF BIDS FOR- <br />- ONE (1) 1.1/2 TON CHASSIS, CREW CAB, DUAL REAR WHEEL TRUCK <br />TO BE USED FOR HAZ/MAT <br />- ONE (1) 35' - 5TH WHEEL TRAILER TO BE USED FOR HAZ/MAT <br />SIXTY-FIVE (65) SELF CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS WITH <br />THIRTY (30) MINUTE AIR CYLINDERS <br />- SIX (6) SELF CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS WITH SIXTY (60) <br />MINUTE AIR CYLINDERS <br />In a letter to the Board, Fire Chief Luther Taylor requested that <br />the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for the above <br />referred to equipment. Chief Taylor stated that lease purchase <br />agreements, funded by the Emergency Medical Services Capital <br />Improvement Fund, will be the method used for payment. <br />Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the request be <br />approved. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion which carried. <br />REQUESTS REFERRED: <br />OF LA SALLE PARK HOMES, INC. FOR NO PARKING SIGNS ALONG THE <br />WEST SIDE OF WEST WASHINGTON STREET. FROM FALCON TO KENMORE. <br />FOR THE SAFETY OF LA SALLE PARK HOME RESIDENTS <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Barbara A. Lawson, Site Manager, <br />LaSalle Park Homes, Inc., 102 South Falcon Street, South Bend, <br />Indiana, requested "No Parking" signs along the west side of <br />West Washington Street, from Falcon to Kenmore Street, for the <br />safety of LaSalle Park Homes residents. Ms. Lawson noted that <br />they are having problems with outsiders drinking in parked cars <br />and loitering on their property. <br />
