307 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 17, 1990 <br />to show local support in presenting a unified and visible <br />commitment toward a creation of a Drug Free America, they are <br />once again organizing a Michiana community wide Red Ribbon Day <br />March beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 1990. <br />The march will begin at the Colfax Cultural Center, proceed <br />down Lincolnway West to Chapin, Chapin to Western Avenue, <br />Western Avenue to Taylor Street, cross the intersection and <br />proceed down Taylor Street to end at the Stanley Coveleski <br />Regional Baseball Stadium. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the above referred to requests were referred to the <br />necessary City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF SINAI SYNAGOGUE FOR REMOVAL OF PARKING <br />RESTRICTIONS IN THE VICINITY OF THE SYNAGOGUE IN CONJUNCTION WITH <br />HIGH HOLY DAYS - SEPTEMBER 20_-21, 1990 AND SEPTEMBER 28. 1990 <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Nate Cossman, President, Sinai <br />Synagogue, 1102 East LaSalle Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, <br />requested that the parking restrictions in the vicinity of the <br />Sinai Synagogue be removed in conjunction with High Holy Days on <br />the following days: <br />- September <br />20, <br />1990 <br />1st <br />day Rosh Hashanah <br />- September <br />21, <br />1990 <br />2nd <br />day Rosh Hashanah <br />- September <br />28, <br />1990 <br />Kol <br />Nidre (Erev Yom Kippur) <br />Mrs. DeClercq noted that this request, which was just received, <br />is for this weekend and she therefore made a motion that the <br />request be approved subject to favorable recommendations being <br />received from the departments and bureaus that need to review <br />this request and to coordination of those affected departments. <br />Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF RILEY HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND TO CONDUCT <br />MARCH_-A-THON - SEPTEMBER 22, 1990 <br />Mrs. DeClercq advised that the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus have reviewed the above referred to request which was <br />submitted to the Board on September 10, 1990, and approval is <br />recommended. Therefore, Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the <br />request be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Humphreys, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the following three (3) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />1. NEW INSTALLATION: <br />Handicap Parking Space <br />LOCATION: <br />711 South Webster <br />REMARKS: <br />Mr. Powlowski is confined to a wheel <br />chair and goes to therapy three (3) <br />days a week. <br />2.
