2 5 8 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 27, 1990 <br />Item E Engine - 95W Hercules diesel D3400 engine or <br />equal - model engine not indicated. <br />Item I Air Handling - Specified 36 inch diameter impeller <br />- non compliance. <br />Item J Power Transmission - 5-V drive power band to <br />minimize possible shock to clutch and/or engine - <br />non-compliance. <br />Item K Suction case liners and clean out door - <br />non-compliance. <br />Item L Suction impeller - 36 inch diameter - <br />non-compliance. <br />Six (6) gusseted blades - non-compliance. <br />Item M Exhaust duct - 17 inch diameter - non-compliance. <br />Round reinforced rubber - non-compliance. <br />Support assembly - Non-compliance. <br />Item N Intake duct - designed to keep suction inlet on <br />right hand curb side - non-compliance. <br />Item O Trailer - to have heavy duty main frame with <br />cross members - non-compliance. <br />Adjustable pintle hitch - range not indicated. <br />Parking jack & castor wheel - not indicated. <br />Item T Warranty - One (1) year or 2080 hours, whichever <br />is greater - compliance not indicated. <br />Mr. Penn noted that the machines bid by Brown Equipment Company <br />are the same models currently in the fleet and parts inventory <br />for repairs would be simplified. Also, no other modifications <br />would be needed to adapt these machines to the City's trucks and <br />collective boxes. It is noted that bids for these vacuum leaf <br />loaders were opened by the Board on August 13, 1990. <br />Mr. Leszczynski therefore made a motion that the recommendation <br />of Mr. Penn be accepted and the bid be awarded to Brown Equipment <br />Company in the amount of $63,900.00 for four (4) vacuum leaf <br />loaders. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BID - ASPHALT PAVING OF TWO (2) AREAS ON WASTEWATER <br />PROPERTY ON OLD CLEVELAND ROAD <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Robert Kruszynski, Manager, <br />Department of Sanitation, recommended that the Board award the <br />bid of Walsh & Kelly, Inc., 24358 State Road 23, South Bend, <br />Indiana, in the amount of $100,370.00 for the above referred to <br />project. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the bids for this project <br />were opened by the Board on August 13, 1990. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. Humphreys and carried, the <br />recommendation was accepted and the bid awarded. <br />REQUEST OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY TO PLACE SIGNS IN <br />PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY - REFERRED <br />Mr. Donald J. Napoli, Director, St. Joseph County Public Library, <br />122 West Wayne Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised the Board <br />that in September of 1985, the South Bend Libary asked the Board <br />to place signs on main thoroughfares identifying the location of <br />the Main Library and the five (5) Branch libraries. The Board at <br />that time was not able to grant the request. <br />Therefore, Mr. Napoli is now asking the Board to reconsider the <br />request and gave the following reasons to support his asking for <br />these signs: <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
