257 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 27, 1990 <br />Adopted at the August 27, 1990 meeting of the Board of Public <br />Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />s/John Leszczynski <br />s/Katherine Humphreys <br />Attest: <br />s/Maryrose Putz, Acting Clerk <br />Finally, Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the Board approve and <br />execute an Offer to Purchase the above referred to real <br />property. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that the property located at 1045 West <br />Sample Street is fenced in and contains 38,744 square feet over <br />7.33 acres. It was further noted that the current municipal <br />services building was never designed to house a centralized <br />operation and renovation of that facility would cost <br />approximately seven to eight thousand dollars <br />($7,000.00-$8,000.00). Mr. Leszczynski indicated that it is <br />anticipated that the City will be able to occupy this new <br />building by spring. <br />APPROVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CONTRACTS AND ADDENDUM <br />The following Community Development Contracts and Addendum were <br />presented to the Board for approval: <br />BUREAU OF HOUSING <br />BUREAU OF HOUSING MANAGEMENT AND INSPECTION ACTIVITY <br />The targeted goal for this activity is to assist one hundred <br />eighty-four (184) households/units in their housing <br />rehabilitation efforts. The total cost of this activity <br />shall not exceed $438,000.00. <br />HOUSING DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION <br />HOUSING REHABILITATION FUND ACTIVITY <br />The targeted goal for this activity is to assist sixty-four <br />(64) households in their housing rehabilitation efforts. The <br />total cost of this activity shall not exceed $680,000.00. <br />ADDENDUM I <br />MADISON CENTER <br />RAPE CRISIS COUNSELING <br />Addendum I indicates that effective July 1, 1990, funds for <br />this activity may be utilized for low and moderate income <br />residents residing within the corporate boundaries of the City <br />of South Bend. <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Humphreys, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the above referred to Contracts and Addendum were <br />approved and executed. <br />AWARD BID - FOUR (4) VACUUM LEAF LOADERS <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. W.S. Penn, Director, Division of <br />Transportation, recommended that the Board award the bid of Brown <br />Equipment Company, Inc., 10222 Airport Drive, Fort Wayne, <br />Indiana, in the amount of $15,997.00 each for a total of <br />$63,988.00 for the above referred to equipment. <br />Mr. Penn also recommended that the Board reject the low bid <br />submitted by Rouse Welding & Body Company in the amount of <br />$14,805.00 each for a total of $59,220.00, as the bid did not <br />meet published specifications in the following areas: <br />
