242 <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 13, 1990 <br />Indiana, and Don's Gas & Car Wash, Inc., 1836 South Michigan <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, the appropriate Contracts for <br />Services have been prepared and are being submitted at this time <br />for Board approval and execution. Mrs. DeClercq therefore made a <br />motion that the Contracts be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded <br />the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE PROPERTY DAMAGE RELEASE <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Leader National Insurance <br />Company, 4807 Rockside Road, Independence, Ohio, has submitted a <br />Property Damage Release form in regards to an accident that <br />occurred on April 1, 1990 in which City owned property was <br />damaged. Also submitted was a check in the amount of $1,008.36 <br />covering damage done to the property. Mr. Leszczynski made a <br />motion that the Property Damage Release form be approved and <br />executed. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BID - 1990 CONCRETE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT <br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Mr. Bob Allen, Manager, Bureau of <br />Public Construction, recommended that the Board award the bid of <br />Kankakee Valley Construction Company, Inc., P.O. Box 1471, <br />LaPorte, Indiana, in the amount of $71,224.50, which includes <br />Alternate #1, for the above referred to project. Mr. Leszczynski <br />advised that bids for this project were opened by the Board on <br />July 30, 1990. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by <br />Ms. Humphreys and carried, the recommendation was accepted and <br />the bid awarded. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF POLICE DEPARTMENT TO CONDUCT AUCTION OF <br />UNCLAIMED BICYCLES AND OTHER UNCLAIMED PROPERTY - SEPTEMBER 22, <br />1990 <br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Ronald G. Marciniak <br />requested permission to dispose of unclaimed bicycles and other <br />unclaimed property at a Public Auction to be held on September <br />22, 1990, from 8:30 a.m. until all items are sold. Chief <br />Marciniak noted that this is the second auction of the year and <br />will be held rain or shine in the Street Department garage at the <br />rear of the Police Department. A partial list of items to be <br />sold include bicycles, televisions, lawnmowers, stereo gear, <br />clothing, tools, car phones, jam boxes as well as other numerous <br />miscellaneous items. Mr. Leszczynski made a motion that the <br />request be approved. Ms. Humphreys seconded the motion which <br />carried. <br />APPROVE REQUESTS TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS FOR THE <br />FOLLOWING• <br />- SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />- VARIOUS VEHICLES - DIVISION OF EQUIPMENT SERVICES <br />Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq, Director, Department of Code <br />Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of <br />approximately eleven (11) abandoned vehicles, which are being <br />stored at Super Auto Salvage Corporation, 3300 South Main Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles have been <br />stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had <br />been run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders notified. <br />Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the request be approved. Ms. <br />Humphreys seconded the motion which carried. <br />Additionally, Mr. Phil St. Clair, Director, Division of Equipment <br />Services requested that the Board advertise for the following <br />vehicles: <br />- Seven (7) Pick-up Trucks <br />- Four (4) Compact Automobiles <br />- Two (2) Midsize Automobiles <br />- Two (2) Four -Wheel Drive Utility Vehicles <br />- One (1) Mini Passenger Van <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
